Supervises the work of accountants who perform various accounting duties throughout the month, including preparing journal entries, reconciliations, reports, and financial analysis.
Maintains and develops departmental processes and procedures that ensures accounting close and financial reporting deadlines are met.
Applies accounting principles, which includes work that is analytical, evaluative and advisory in nature, and that requires an understanding of both accounting theory and practice.
Performs duties independently and provides leadership and guidance to other team members.
Reviews standard and non-standard journal entries for completeness and accuracy.
Reviews reconciliations and analysis of various balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis.
Assists in researching, co-authoring, issuing and implementing all accounting policies and procedures
Maintains financial security by following and developing internal controls.
Supervises the producation of reports and analysis to assist department leadership with questions and issues.
Maintains accounting controls by preparing and recommending policies and procedures.
Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
Maintains month-end close checklist and monitors compliance with timing goals and deadlines.
Supervises accounting staff by coordinating activities, providing guidance, establishing processes that provide excellent service to internal customers and users of finance information.
Assist with the annual audit through the coordination of staff efforts in preparation of audit schedules.
Providing support/assistance on other projects as assigned
Promote corporate integrity through compliance with the BHS Corporate Responsibility Program
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or other related business degree
7+ years of experience in accounting/finance with emphasis on general accounting experience
Demonstrated experience in supervision of financial closing activities and financial statement preparation
Demonstrated experience in supervision of accounting staff
Strong knowledge of GAAP
Proficiency with Excel, Databases, ERP, PowerPoint, SharePoint and Microsoft Word.
Healthcare experience preferred
Public Accounting Experience preferred
