Technica Corporation is seeking an Accounting Manager who, with limited supervision, will provide a broad range of accounting and finance support including the day-to-day general ledger accounting and financial reporting. Responsibilities include customer billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger, month-end closing, preparation of & writing Cognos and financial reports/statements and audit participation. This position is assigned other duties as necessary to ensure maximum effectiveness of the Accounting and Finance Department.

Job Requirements (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)

  • Process mid-month and month-end billing and invoices for all assigned business units

  • Analyze performance to date and assess potential risks and opportunities

  • Provide input on process improvements and drive automation of our reporting processes

  • Work closely with business leaders to analyze and understand financial results

  • Create ad-hoc reporting and financial analysis to address specific requests from the leadership team or clients

  • Assist with calculating indirect rate pools and post labor

  • Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close

  • Reconcile discrepancies and variances through research and analysis

  • Create and maintain core/standardized reports using Excel, Cognos, and Costpoint

  • Develop ad hoc reports for internal customers

  • Provide information and support for internal and external audits

  • Identify areas of opportunity to become more efficient in processes and reporting

  • Create and document processes and procedures to ensure consistency of practice

  • Perform all functions within the parameters of Accounting and Finance operations policies and procedures

  • Serve as back-up for other accounting and finance staff

  • Assists with other assignments and/or special projects as requested

  • Assists Accounting & Finance Director as needed

Required Skills

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a similar discipline

  • 5-7 years of accounting or finance experience

  • Proficiency with Deltek CostPoint

  • Proficiency in all Microsoft Office Suite products; expert level in Excel

  • Proficiency in Cognos Report writing

  • Prior experience working in a federal contracting environment and working with DCAA auditors

  • High level of analytical and problem-solving ability to analyze data, identify and resolve problems within tight timeframes

  • Demonstrated success as an individual and in a team environment

  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and changing priorities

  • Strong communication skills (written, oral and listening)

  • Protect organization's value by keeping information confidential

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate and to consult effectively and independently with individuals at various levels of the organization

  • Must be organized, in addition to being detail and deadline-oriented

Desired Skills

  • 5-10 years of related experience effectively analyzing and communicating key financial data

  • Experience developing and implementing company or department budgeting and analysis

  • CPA certification is preferred

Summary of Essential Job Functions * Verify accuracy of night audit work through Excel spreadsheets and web based applications. i.e. reconciliation revenue, coding of PMS charges, Month end Revenue postings in General Ledger. * Assist properties in the reconciliation and billing of city ledger accounts. Perform follow-up billing and credit collection documentation and inform Controller of any potential uncollectible accounts. * Trace all credit card /cash deposits from PMS system to each bank account on a daily basis. Research any missing deposits or shortages. * Assist Staff Accountants with A/P posting when needed. * Audit properties on a semi-annual basis to ensure SOP's best practices are followed. * Monitor web based revenue system daily to insure Night Audit imports are completed. * Communicate and train properties on accounting Procedures. * Administer company credit card program. * Cross train in other accounting functions at the Corporate level. * Perform any other job related duties as assigned.
