About the Position and You

The Accounting Manager will manage the Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable team and all associated tasks. This position will facilitate the recording of all SG&A expense activity in accordance with GAAP and company policies; additionally this person will be responsible for all expense-related financial reporting and filings. Additionally, this position will manage the reimbursable invoice process.

The ideal candidate will be a dynamic, self-starter, independent thinker, who is flexible and can multi-task as needed. This person is one who is comfortable leading a team but also pitching in to assist with whatever is needed. As the Accounting Manager:

  • Manage the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable team and all related functions

  • Responsible for leading, coaching, training, and developing the team to ensure success

  • Responsible for the recording of transactional activity in accordance with GAAP to ensure accurate financial statements and financial reporting; includes review of AP, AR, AMEX, and expense report transactions prior to posting

  • Review expense reports to ensure coding accuracy and compliance with T&E policies

  • Perform detailed review, analysis, and reconciliation of assigned balance sheet accounts

  • Manage the month-end expense accrual process and all financial reporting related to expenses

  • Review and analyze monthly actual versus budget variance analysis

  • Serve as a liaison between the individual departments and the finance department distributing monthly cost center reporting

  • Responsible for 1099 process; includes but not limited to vendor maintenance, data integrity, compliance with IRS regulations, and creation/ filing of annual 1099s

  • Responsible for various tax filings such as sales/use and gross receipts tax and unclaimed property reporting

  • Manage the reimbursable invoice process ensuring accurate and timely invoice preparation of reimbursable expenses to clients and reconciliation of reimbursable revenue to reimbursable expenses to ensure completeness of billing by program

  • Effectively manage the relationship with both internal and external customers

  • Effectively support senior management on ad-hoc reporting and projects

  • Successfully create strategies to ensure individual and team objectives are met in a timely manner

  • Participate in annual audit ensuring successful completion within defined timeframes

  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures and other practices set forth by executive management

  • Perform all other duties as assigned

Position Requirements/Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting required

  • 5-7 years relevant accounting experience

  • 2-4 years proven management experience

  • Proven financial analysis experience

  • Solid understanding of GAAP

  • Strong analytical, interpersonal, and communications skills (both verbal and written)

  • Effectively prioritize and organize multiple projects at one time

  • Ability to show judgment, initiative, make decisions and problem solve

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast paced, dynamic environment

  • Attention to detail

  • MS Dynamics experience preferred

  • Automated expense report software experience preferred

  • Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Excel

Principal Accountabilities (Typical duties include the following, although specific duties vary by assignment or contract.) * Manages accounting processes for assigned area. * Supervises monthly and quarterly accounting reporting. * Advises upper management concerning monthly input of statistics, records and reconciliations. * Manages month end close and ensures timely overall close process. * Develops, analyzes and interprets accounting information in order to appraise operating results in terms of profitability, performance against budget, and other matters bearing on the fiscal soundness and operating effectiveness of the organization. * Determines work procedures, prepares work schedules and expedites workflow. * Studies and standardizes procedures to improve efficiency of subordinates. * Supervises the process for monthly and quarterly accounting reporting. * Responsible for cash flow forecast and account reconciliations of income statements and/or balance sheets. * Represents Accounting Operations for assigned SBU for phase-in on new contracts. * Manages the maintenance of accurate records of earnings, profits, cash balance and other financial results to ensure schedule objectives are met. * Position may be assigned to a specific targeted business area and may require additional or specific job duties related to assigned function which are not aforementioned Knowledge & Skills * Knowledge of General Accepted Accounting principles (GAAP) required. Knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), Joint Travel Regulations (JTR), and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS) a plus. * Ability to perform data extraction and manipulation, analyze financial data, and generate reports. * Ability to analyze variances to budgets/forecasts/accruals, explain to management, and create corrective action plan. * Demonstrate proficiency in finance and accounting relational databases and Microsoft applications. * Ability to work with numbers and complete assignments with attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy. * Good interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with all levels throughout the organization. * Ability to organize and prioritize multiple work assignments and work well under pressure. Experience & Education * Bachelor's degree in Accounting required; CPA preferred. * Eight (8) years accounting experience. Prefer at least three (3) years in a managerial position.
