The Ally Accounting LEADership Development Program (ALDP) provides you with an alternate path to obtaining the CPA designation while working full-time in the dynamic Controller's and Audit functions of a public Fortune 500 leading digital financial services company.

In just three years you'll advance through three different 9-12 month rotations within the Controller's and Audit function in Detroit, Michigan. ALDP provides recent college graduates a cross-functional, enterprise-wide learning experience within 8 possible rotational opportunities. Strengthen your accounting skills by working alongside highly experienced accounting and tax professionals including CPAs, JDs and MBAs.

The ALDP offers three 9-12 month rotational opportunities in the following areas:

Business Unit & Enterprise Accounting

  • Accounting and reporting for Ally Business Units and Enterprise Functions including:

  • Auto Finance, Insurance, Mortgage and Corporate

  • Debt, Securitization and Capital Markets

Tax Accounting, Planning & Reporting

  • Preparing the tax provision and related disclosures

  • Forecasting tax expense and its components

  • Preparing and filing tax returns

  • Evaluating the impact of current and proposed tax laws

Financial Controls

  • Design, plan and execute testing over internal controls

  • Testing and related governance of account reconciliations

  • Efficiently and effectively resolve internal control matters

Financial Reporting

  • Preparation of reports filed with the SEC (Forms 10-K/Q, 8-K, etc.)

  • Preparation of various documents for regulatory and industry reporting

  • Coordination with external auditors

Audit

  • Provide assurance regarding the effectiveness of governance, risk management and internal control

  • Perform review of designated and/or implemented processes and controls

  • Conduct ongoing follow-up and post implementation validation on Audit Services' findings and recommendations

Supply Chain Accounting

  • Oversee, monitor, and advise on the invoice approval process

  • Engage with Ally vendors and ensure purchase orders are generated timely and accurately

  • Ensure invoices are approved and paid in a timely manner and in accordance with contract terms

  • Reconcile payment terms within the procurement and general ledger system

Qualifications

  • Seniors or post-graduate students pursuing a career in Accounting

  • Completion or intent of obtaining a post-graduate degree to meet the eligibility requirements of obtaining the CPA professional designation

  • 3.3 minimum GPA

  • A strong track record of ambition and motivation through academic success and relevant experience

  • Strong candidates will possess strong leadership, interpersonal and communication skills

  • Eligibility to work in the U.S. without sponsorship from the company

The Taxpayer Advocate Service is an independent organization within the IRS. The TAS mission is to assist taxpayers in resolving their problems with the IRS (Case Advocacy), and to identify and propose administrative and legislative solutions to mitigate those problems (Systemic Advocacy). WHAT IS THE LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM (LDP)? The Intake Advocate Leadership Development Program offers structured leadership training and developmental assignment. During the eighteen (18) month program, all participants will attend a pre-classroom orientation, complete Career Learning Plan, ELMS, other online courses and attend leadership-training classes (virtually and/or face-to-face budget permitting). Additionally, candidates may be assigned a mentor, participate in a shadow assignment and possibly a managerial developmental assignment. As a Participant in the LDP you will: * Remain in your current position and post of duty. * Participate in an 18-month training and development program that may include shadowing or acting assignments and a variety of developmental activities. While on developmental assignments, you may: * Instruct employees in specific tasks and job techniques and makes available written instructions, reference material, and supplies. * Maintain knowledge of work in the organization and answers questions for employees on procedures, policies, directives, etc. * Assist in planning work methods and making day-to-day adjustments in accordance with established priorities to meet deadlines. * Distribute and balance the workload among employees in accordance with established work flow or job specialization and assures timely accomplishment of the assigned workload. * Check work in progress and reviews completed work to ensure that supervisor's instructions on work sequence, procedures, methods, and deadlines are met. * Give feedback on performance, progress, training needs, and disciplinary problems of employees. * Provide for and administers on-the-job training for newly-assigned employees; assists lower-grade employees on more difficult work. * Prepare and assists in disseminating new or revised operating and/or administrative procedures or training material and conducts classroom training as appropriate. * Resolve simple, informal complaints of employees. To be qualified for a temporary development assignment (promotion) to a Frontline Manager position, while in the readiness program, your experience should be sufficient to demonstrate: * Knowledge of management techniques, methods, theories, principles, and labor relations concepts, to assure optimum utilization of personnel, equipment, and space for the accomplishment of all program objectives with combined technical and administrative oversight; * Knowledge and understanding of regulations, other official guidance and principles, including the latest procedures and techniques sufficient to oversee the planning, development and implementation of the technical aspects of programs specific to the position being filled; * Knowledge of cost estimating procedures (sufficient to manage financial resources), project management, and if required, legal and regulatory interpretations specific to the position being filled; * Knowledge of communicative techniques to effectively and diplomatically interact with internal and external customers; * Experience sufficient to demonstrate proficiency in the technical competencies required of the developmental opportunity. * If the development opportunity is to a position that has a positive educational requirement, you may be required to submit a transcript(s) at a later date. * The experience may have been gained in the public sector, private sector or Volunteer Service.
