MasTec is currently seeking a dynamic and motivated individual to join our team as a Project Accounting Intern to assist the Project Accounting team in ownership of project profitability on large scale commercial construction projects for the summer of 2020.

  • Assisting the Project Accountant with preparing backup to support monthly billings

  • Assisting Project Accountant with developing monthly equipment spreadsheets

  • Gaining a basic understanding of subcontracts and their payment applications and how they are entered and processed

  • Gaining an understanding of different types of projects (Lump Sum, Cost Plus, GMP) and how each relates to project costs, forecasts and billings

  • Learning about project contracts and what information is gained from them

  • Assist with account reconciliations, journal entries, various account analyses, and monthly financial reporting package preparation.

  • Assist other accounting areas as needed (i.e. F/A, P/R, A/P, A/R)

  • Assist with audit requests as needed.

  • Assist with various Oracle processes as needed.

  • Comply with SOX controls within the accounting and finance department processes

  • Assist with making recommendations to USG Management for developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.

  • Special projects as needed.

  • Are currently pursuing an undergraduate, four-year degree in Accounting, Finance or related field

  • Have experience with Microsoft Office Suite, in particular Microsoft Excel

  • Have demonstrated effective interpersonal skills and customer service skills

  • Possess strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task

  • Have demonstrated tenacious analytical skills and strong attention to detail

  • Have access to reliable transportation

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Possess the right to work in the U.S. that is not based solely on possession of a student visa or a visa sponsored by a third-party employer

  • Possess excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills

  • Demonstrate effective oral communication and active listening skills and are comfortable interacting with a variety of individuals via various methods (in-person, phone, email)

  • Have a positive and professional attitude and sound customer service skills

Additional Information:

You will join an exciting and ever-changing industry with a minimum 9-week internship with our team. This opportunity is full-time (40 hours/week) during the summer of 2020. Dependent on business need and performance, there may be the opportunity to extend into the fall and semester working part-time as well.

This position is responsible for supporting the sales efforts at a Sherwin-Williams paint store, servicing wholesale and retail customers. It will assist customers in person and over the phone by determining needs and presenting appropriate products and services. This involves ensuring that sales transactions are completed accurately, maintaining accurate work order files and formulas, pulling appropriate products from the sales floor or warehouse, and tinting and mixing them to customer specifications.
