This position will provide general accounting and project support to the General Ledger, Accounts Payable, and Accounts Receivable Departments.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • AP Reconciling monthly vendor statements

  • AP Assisting team with updating their policy manual

  • GL Perform routine accounting duties including account analysis, balance sheet reconciliations, and creating journal entries

  • GL Assist the team with process standardization of function and format

  • AR Support the cash application function by researching aged cash to determine appropriate disposition. Disposition may include application, recovery, refund or escheat.

  • AR Support the dispute management function by following up on aged disputes.

  • AR Review existing reporting to determine if there are newer / better / faster / less manual ways of completing the same reporting

  • Work on improving Shared Services Center's intranet site to improve customer service

  • Assist Team Leaders in special projects, reports and perform other duties as assigned.

  • Junior or senior in college working towards a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance

  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 out of 4.0

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office - emphasis on Excel with knowledge of Access a plus

  • Strong initiative and ability to manage multiple projects

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Must be detail oriented with strong organizational and analytical skills

  • Ability to work well with others in fast paced, dynamic environment

The position will support numerous aspects of finance andaccounting for the Retail Claim and ESC Supply Chain Teams. The candidate willbe instrumental in improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the generalaccounting function. The positionrequires solid finance and accounting experience combined with strong systemsaptitude. This position will beresponsible for all accounting functions within the scope of theirresponsibilities, including accuracy and integrity of the general ledger,period-end close, internal control processes and compliance. The idealcandidate will be technically proficient in US GAAP and have financialreporting experience. Strategic planning experience, monitoring and analyzingoperating results and KPI's (e.g. operational scorecards and dashboards) ishighly desirable. Essential Duties: * Manage the day-to-day accounting activities of the Retail Claims Finance and ESC Supply Chain Teams, including JE review and approvals, customer aging review, cash application, and select client invoice preparation. * Maintain integrity in the general ledger, ensuring proper recording to cost centers. * Prepare and develop new accounting or reporting procedures including the maintenance of current procedures. * Manage the month-end accounting close to ensure accurate financial results are available to operating management in a timely manner. * Prepare monthly analysis, accruals and adjustments related to Supply Chain Repair programs. * Prepare monthly Retail elimination entries. * Prepare month end accrual entries as assigned. * Review and approve monthly Balance sheet reconciliations. * Oversee the management of the Accounts Receivable function associated with Obligor payments, driving process improvement to maximize cash flow and reduce manual processes. * Develop, analyze and interpret statistical and accounting information in order to appraise operating results in terms of profitability, trends and other matters impacting the effectiveness of the operations. * Develop accounting procedures and policies as it relates to new product lines. * Direct staff in the application of proper accounting principles. * Oversee the process of documenting accounting policies and procedures. * Ensure compliance with corporate accounting policies and procedures as well as adherence to Sarbanes-Oxley standards and GAAP. * Supervise/direct staff members including hiring recommendations; feedback, coaching and training; objective setting; and performance reviews. * Actively engage and participate in other business demands as required and/or directed by leadership Qualifications Required: * 5 years ofprogressive and related experience required * A proven track recordof academic and professional excellence * Experience and provenability related to reconciliation of information and research of issues * Experience dealingwith multiple systems, and understanding of subsequent complexities * Demonstratedleadership skills and experience in managing goals through collaboration andteamwork * Experience and goodskills relating to reconciliation of information and research of issues * Ability to applystrong problem-solving techniques * Intermediate MicrosoftExcel skills required - ability to create pivot tables as well as the abilityto create formulas (including V-lookups) * Demonstrated abilityto work independently and show initiative * Have good written andverbal communication skills * Strong interpersonaland oral/written/presentation communication skills required. * Excellent mathematicaland computational skills * Bachelor's Degree inFinance, Business, or Accounting required * CPA Certificatepreferred Asurion Corporation Nashville TN
