Accounting Intern

An intern with LKQ Corporation will be responsible for supporting the business operation by performing a wide range of duties related to a specific function of LKQ.

Essential Job Duties:

• Understands the overall concept of the company, including the brand, customer, product goals, and all other aspects of service.

• Accepts designated, business-focus projects to research, propose ideas and solutions, and present final project during the internship.

• Conduct established activities and any added responsibilities which are mutually agreed upon by the student and site supervisor

• Work on projects

• Report/present findings to other team members and management as needed.

• Serve as a resource within the function/department.

• Maintaining documentation and/or records

• Providing ongoing support as needed

• Assume other duties as assigned.

May Perform Additional Duties as Assigned for Accounting & Finance:

• Assist with SEC filings, including the second quarter 10-Q and 8-Ks (as needed), including rolling documents forward, managing changes, data input, etc.

• Update supporting schedules for footnote disclosures, including accumulation of operating lease information, weighted average interest calculations, revenue and income generated from acquisitions, debt schedules, and various other system reports.

• Perform consistency checks of XBRL tagging information to ensure tags are applied consistently with prior periods.

• Assist with implementation of WebFilings system (TBD).

• Assist with data checks of salvage inventory valuations.

• Accumulate data on historical A/R write-offs to help with analyzing bad debt reserve policy.

• Perform accounting research as needed to assist the field and the Nashville support center in accounting for various transactions.

• Assist with month-end closing and financial statement preparation.

• Assist with preparation of schedules for quarterly investor calls.

• Provide support to consolidation and FP&A groups, including ad hoc projects.

• Assist Treasury department with certain projects, including audit of signatories on disbursement accounts, an audit of credit cards at locations, and review of check volumes to identify opportunities to implement check scanning.

• Assume other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• Not responsible for supervising employees.
