Position Summary
The Division of Undergraduate Education is seeking a Financial Services Analyst 2 to assume daily responsibility of auditing and ensuring compliance of all purchasing and travel financial activities for assigned unit and monitoring financial portfolio of department funds including contract, grant and gift funds, serving as a functional consultant to staff and management from both a central divisional and department/unit level, on all transactions processed through the various on-line systems (Purchasing, BruinBuy Plus/PAC, Blood Donations, ASUCLA Catering/Room Rentals, Events, Facilities, Finger Printing, Travel, Telecommunications, Parking Services and Mail and Document Services). Provide a broad range of financial services including processing, reporting, deposits, and recharge services. Work in collaboration with central campus administrators and department staff to resolve issues.
Interpret, monitor, and analyze information regarding university financial and operating policies and procedures. Analyze, research, and reconcile expenses to the Detail General Ledger, identify and prepare required adjustments and corrections, prepare quarterly copier recharges, prepare monthly financial reports for over 155 different accounts and maintain the central records system for the division. In addition, train department staff including Directors, Managers and Staff as preparers and reviewers of financial systems, analyze, monitor and advise all department preparers on processing errors, H & I hold, release Encumbrances, process NPEAR's and provide administrative support for divisional administration unit, and during absences serve as a backup preparer for units. Must be able to maintain a regular schedule and on-time attendance.

Qualifications
Demonstrated skill and experience in general accounting practices, reconciling financial ledgers and processing accounts payable and receivable (Required) Working knowledge of University Accounting policies and procedures, including the fiscal closing process. (Preferred) Working knowledge of or ability to learn financial mainframe systems such On-line Financial Systems Reports, Express Travel and Purchasing Accounts Payable BruinBuy Plus/PAC System. (Preferred) Demonstrated skill in utilizing mainframe systems and computer programs such as MS Office (MS Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint), Outlook and Internet to complete assigned duties. Must have demonstrated proficiency and skill in Excel and Access for spreadsheets and databases. (Required) Skill in reading and analyzing monthly University ledgers for the purpose of reconciliation of expenditures. (Preferred) Ability to analyze situations, define problems and objectives, identify relevant factors formulate logical conclusions, and recognize alternatives. (Required) Ability to answer questions, solve problems, and make recommendations by gathering data and conducting administrative analysis. (Required) Writing skills to prepare concise, logical, grammatically correct correspondence and reports. (Required) Verbal communication skills to convey information concisely, accurately and tactfully to both individuals or to groups. (Required) Ability to relate accounting information to persons not familiar with detailed accounting policies and procedures. (Required) Ability to prioritize and complete assignments in a timely manner under conditions of heavy workload, constant interruption and competing deadlines. (Required) Ability and judgment to deal with confidential and sensitive information with discretion. (Required)

Bachelor's Degree Bachelor's degree in finance/accounting and/or equivalent experience / training (Required)
