Job Description Job Description General Purpose: The basic function of the Controller is to manage all the accounting functions of JLS Environmental Services while receiving direction from Ownership and be made aware of the financial impacts related to the Treasury functions.

This position controls all corporate financial matters including the filing of all federal and state tax returns, corporate licensing and documents , accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, product, job and inventory costing. Other duties are related to banking relationships, insurance, taxes and compliance. The Controller will be responsible for providing accurate and timely information as needed to CPA, CFO and Ownership.

Reporting Relationships : The Controller reports directly to and is fully accountable to the COO with CFO and CPA oversight on the accounting pronouncements. At present, AP Administrator, AR Administrator, Payroll Administrator and Staff Accountant report directly to the Controller. JOB REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE : Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration from an accredited college or university, Five years financial experience in a medium size ($15 million volume) organization, preferably in a construction related industry. This experience must include total financial responsibility with operational budget planning and control, asset/debt management, cash management and development of appropriate financial reports for managing the business. Strong mathematical and analytical skills Knowledge of basic accounting principles and report preparation Knowledge of regulatory standards and compliance requirements (GAAP) SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES Must be a self-starter comfortable meeting new people and be a person who can quickly put others at ease and inspire trust.

Must be comfortable working with all JLS team members to gain insights from resources. Must either be knowledgeable or able and willing to become knowledgeable of all products/services offered by JLS. Must exhibit the willingness and the ability to continuously conduct oneself in accordance with the high company standards of JLS.

Business acumen Excellent written and oral communication skills Strong attention to detail, process-oriented and Strong focus on problem-solving Demonstrated ability to multi-task and manage multiple priorities Sense of urgency in all tasks assigned and highly organized Advanced in Microsoft Office Main Job Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities - The primary duties of the Controller include, but are not limited to the following: Plan, coordinate, schedule and control all corporate financial activities under the direction of CFO/ownership. Maintain JLS current accounting master files in all approved software (AP, AR, Payroll), the chart of accounts and general ledger insuring that all accounts are accurate and legitimate (with supporting documentation for validation). Reconcile all JLS bank accounts on a monthly basis and forward report(s) to COO by the 10th of the following month.

Maintain and manage check stock and the signature stamp. Setup and initiate all Auto Payment and Wire Transfers. Oversee and spearhead the annual company budget and ensuring proper input of budget information into accounting software.

Perform and provide financial models and analysis as necessary to support current and future strategic initiatives. Day to day review and guidance of the Cash Flow Provide check run approval for all company cash disbursements, ensuring discounts are taken as appropriate and within cashflow parameters. Maintain banking, insurance broker and CPA relationships, providing requested information in a timely manner.

This includes but is not limited to requested schedules and supporting documentation for external reporting and taxes. Prepare all financial reports and supporting documentation for monthly Financial Meetings. Implement processes and procedures to ensure transactional segregation of duties, process efficiencies and the integrity of accounting information.

Responsible in learning how the team inputs impact financial reporting. Responsible for timely and accurate month end and year-end financial and accounting close functions. Prepare and distribute financial packets by the 15th of each month.

Responsible for ensuring the timely production of the monthly financial reports which include, but are not limited to the balance sheet, income statement and cash flow projections. Oversee the JLS budget cycle and provide monthly variance reports to ownership and the board as directed. Oversee the management of the accounts payable function in accordance with the cash flow of the business.

Ensure company is taking advantage of all discounts offered for early payment. Oversee the management of the accounts receivable to ensure JLS receives prompt payment for services completed and agreed upon milestones. ¬ The accounts receivable is managed to ensure that the days receivable have been maintained below the normal customer terms. ¬ Lead/guide in the AR aging analysis as needed, but not less than monthly ¬ Assist with AR Collection efforts as needed and aim for minimal Bad Debt expense to be incurred. Ensure the timely recording of all accounting data into the appropriate computer system/files.

Ensuring that all systems are accurate and balance against each other. Ensure the accurate and timely processing of Cash Disbursements, Payroll, Federal and State Payroll tax deposits and associated reports. Responsible to audit all general ledger activity and how its reporting to income statement and balance sheet.

Responsible for timely renewal of all business licenses and corporate documents with information updated and provided as needed for renewal. Final review of all general journal entries each month for AP, AR and Payroll and make any final adjustments needed to maintain accurate statements. Ensure the accurate and timely processing of materials, equipment, job and shop inventory costing data prior to close of jobs.

Responsible for ensuring the trail balance is accurate and aligned, prior to financial report generation. Responsible for access management for current accounting software. Responsible for the creation of and the updating of SOP’s for all accounting policies and processes to keep processes accurate at all times.

Create and review with team monthly WIP reports by department as it regards to budget and report findings to VP of Operations and ownership for further review and actions needed. Help manage and control costs consistent with the goals of the company.
