This position is represented by the Anchorage Municipal Employee Association (AMEA) and is subject to the provisions of the current agreement between the Municipality of Anchorage and the AMEA.

DEPARTMENT: Finance

HOURS OF WORK: Monday through Friday; 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

LOCATION: 632 West 6th Avenue, Ste 300

Example of Duties

Provide front line counter and telephone customer service for all inquiries and requests. Perform a full range of office clerical functions including, but not limited to the electronic processing of real property conveyance documents, deeds of trust, notice of completion, certificate of occupancy, and easement documents; compose business letters in suitable language when required; receive, assemble, and distribute real property appeals packets; receive, review, approve or deny and electronically process all real and personal property senior citizen/disabled veteran exemption applications, make contact with the applicant when required electronically process all real and personal property address change request; produce and process real property sales inquiry letters; receive and distribute division daily CAMA reports; open, sort, and distribute division mail; maintain, file and scan library of real property hard card records; assist in the training of new employees and cross train co-workers; provide special project support to division supervisors, co-workers, and real and personal property appraisal staff. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications / Substitutions / Preferences

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent, and two (2) years of accounting experience, one (1) of which must have been at the Accounting Clerk II level with the Municipality, or the equivalent elsewhere. (Examples of an Accounting Clerk II are: maintain files, examine codes; and vouchers invoices or documents for payment, or assist in billing process).

Preferences:

  • Ability to type at a net speed of 35 WPM
  • 10 key at a net speed of 150 KSPM.

Additional Important Information

Preference will be given to Anchorage Municipal Employees Association (AMEA) employees. AMEA employees who are successful in the screening process will be forwarded to the department for consideration prior to any non-AMEA applicants.

DEPARTMENT: Anchorage Police Department (APD) HOURS OF WORK: 4/10 shifts, days off vary LOCATION: 716 West 4th Avenue & 4501 Elmore Road Example of Duties Extensive contact with the public, both in person and over the phone. Maintain working knowledge of community, municipal, and internal resources and route citizens appropriately. Take reports of crime over the phone and compose formal department police reports. Type and compose routine correspondence, various reports, letters, memorandum. Extensive data entry utilizing word processing equipment. Research and enter data from police reports and citations into various computer systems, including but not limited to NCIC, APSIN, and Records Management System (RMS). Coordinate with internal personnel and external agencies under time constraints to process arrests and charging documents. Perform cashiering functions, and process all traffic citations. Process monetary entries for receipt of all monies for various types of permits, fees, reports. Provide court testimony as required. Perform other related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications / Substitutions / Preferences High school diploma, GED, or equivalent, and two (2) years of clerical office experience. Additional Important Information Preference will be given to Anchorage Police Department (APD) employees. Testing will include satisfactory passing of: Nelson/Denny Comprehension Exam and an Oral Board.
