Position Description: Perform data entry, scanning, filing and specific duties related to processing general ledger, accounts payable, or accounts receivable transactions.

Reports To: Accounting Manager, Financial Center

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate timely and accurate data entry processing.

  • Provide shared services assistance for all financial processes and timely communication with profit centers, vendors, customers, and third party affiliates.

  • Process documents with understanding of policy requirements.

  • Ensure accuracy of data batches and distribute for final review and approval.

  • Assist in preparation and maintenance of all financial reports associated with project or department.

  • Run monthly reports, assist with preparation of reconciliations and necessary journal entries.

  • Complete transactional activities for processing and filing intercompany charges.

  • Perform month end closing activities including verifying ledgers for accuracy.

  • Finance Reporting (HQ): perform general ledger journal entries, record and reconcile cash activity, report unclaimed property report and joint venture consolidation.

  • Financial Center Accounts Payable: assist in vendor set-up and validation, process accounts payable transactions.

  • Financial Center Accounts Receivable: process applications and cash receipts, banking, monthly close activities, process accounts receivable transactions.

  • Financial Center General Ledger: maintain general ledger transactions including intercompany charges, fixed assets, sales & use tax, and PP&E.

  • International: assist in preparation of application for payment.

  • Operational Finance (Profit Centers): assist in preparation of application for payment.

  • Tax: prepare and review of tax returns, assist in tax compliance and reporting, research, and document retention.

  • Treasury: prepare daily cash activity including deposits and outgoing wires.

  • Other activities, duties, and responsibilities as assigned.


  • Associate's Degree and 2 years relevant experience or equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience

  • General knowledge basic accounting principles

  • Must be accountable to escalate issues promptly, learn and apply knowledge quickly, and meet deadlines

  • Must be highly organized, detail oriented, maintain accuracy, and self-check work

  • Able to work independently, with some oversight, and in team environment

  • Must follow established procedures and execute directions to completion without need of follow up by management

  • Must have good work ethic and integrity, be dependable, adaptable, cooperative, and motivated to take on new responsibilities

  • Professional written and verbal communication skills

  • Proficient with computer applications, Microsoft Office, and general office skills

Overview: The Accounting Specialist II performs basic accounting /research functions for the following teams: Accounting Services, Cash Services, Cash Accounting, and Sales Audit. The requirement may include the ability to be cross -trained on each of the teams above. Tasks may include investigative analysis, data entry, journal entries, and reconciliations. Essential Functions: May include all of the following: Perform high level cash shortage analysis for top locations with the highest cash penetration/ shortage utilizing Cash Over Short Tracking (CO$T) application. Provide Register Processing System (RPS) support by verifying/balancing sales transactions in order to release sales according to critically established deadlines. Communicate with MTECH and MCCS external contacts to ensure timely, accurate sales and payment adjustments. Work closely and collaborate with store operations/asset protection teams to detect patterns of cash fraud and identify training issues at the store level that can reduce expense. Reconcile monthly bank statements for depository accounts and other cash related accounts to our general ledger. Ownership of the Daily Bank File Database Process, BBR balancing (Electronic Check Collection to RPS) and Check Payment on Account (POA) reversal functions, utilizing Access databases for each of these functions. Run Easytrieve (EZT), research, create and post weekly Sales Audit OVS correction entries to the COST application. Close all test RPS regions, providing feedback to MST, MCCS, POS, FedFil, RDS, and RPS groups as warranted Complete check redeposit function which includes research, completion of GL entry and depositing of checks. Monitor accuracy of information, create files to post, and maintain current and proper level of access to the Cash Services webpage on the Portal. Investigate issues for preliminary month end results. Prepare and process journal entries. Regular, dependable attendance & punctuality. Qualifications: Education/Experience: High School Diploma required. Minimum 2-3 years related experience required. Experience with mainframe and accounting systems required. Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Read, write, and interpret instructional documents such as reports and procedure manuals. Ability to educate others. Mathematical Skills: Must have excellent mathematical skills, including the ability to calculate interest, discounts, ratios, and to work with mathematical concepts such as profitability and statistical inference. Reasoning Ability: Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision. under time constraints and meet deadlines. Ability to analyze complex issues and solve problems.
