Bohannan Huston is currently seeking qualified applicants for a full-time Accounting Clerk to work in our Albuquerque, NM office. This position will be highly involved during the entire life cycle of our projects, from initial contract review to billing and collection through project closure.

Expertise Required:

  • Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, and Outlook

  • Experience using general ledger / accounting systems (we utilize the following systems and while experience with them is not a requirement, it will be viewed favorably)

  • BST Enterprise for GL, AP, AR, and project maintenance

  • Creative Solutions for fixed asset management

  • UltiPro for HR and Payroll functions

  • Experience with contracts (in general), contract types, and contracting vocabulary

  • Knowledge of funding through federal, state, & local municipality mechanisms is preferred

  • Aptitude to learn and highly detail oriented

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to interact effectively with all levels throughout the company

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Willingness to take initiative

  • 3-5 years' experience in bookkeeping and general accounting duties

  • High school diploma required with post-secondary accounting coursework preferred

  • Strong Customer Service Skills

Key Duties and Responsibilities Include:

  • Contract review

  • Project set up and maintenance

  • Billing and collections

  • Provide backup payroll processing in UltiPro

  • Other duties as assigned

The successful candidate must possess excellent customer service skills and demonstrate a professional and positive attitude. The position also requires the ability to multitask, meet deadlines, and work efficiently in a busy environment. The Accounting Clerk serves as the primary point of contact in Surplus Property, and will interact with a diverse community on a wide range of issues, including disposition requests, departmental auctions, payment tracking and resolving problems and inquiries as needed. Position duties include: Providing prompt and professional customer service to UNM faculty, staff, students and external vendors and customers. Assisting and directing customers by phone, email and walk-in, and assisting with any operational needs. Providing daily fiscal/administrative support to the department. Financial tasks include but are not limited to: Processing Surplus Property Asset deletions, managing departmental auctions, managing Surplus payments and rebates, and processing of Chrome River expense reports for fuel cards.
