The Finance division is responsible for driving all activities related to PATH's accounting and financial functions and ensures compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), PATH policies and procedures, internal controls, and audit support operating in 20+ countries. The team works closely with partners in human resources, legal, IT, office of grants and contracts,and the extended program leadership team to not only educate regarding finance and accounting procedures, but also explore how the finance function can support program and other operations groups building and optimizing finance business processes and systems to meet future needs and demands.
PATH's Global Expense Accounting Team is currently seeking an Accounting Associate, with 1 to 2 years of experience, who will work with the rest of the Accounting team to oversee adherence to PATH Accounting policies as well as those of our donors. This position will require superb organizational skills, attention to details, some amount of data entry, and superior customer service skills (in person and via email and phone).
Review expense reports in accordance with PATH's travel reimbursement policy
Track, code and register direct billed external invoices
Track outstanding travel expense submissions
Monitor and follow up on overdue advances to staff/consultants
Issue and record travel invoices and reimbursement checks to PATH staff and consultants
Perform bi-weekly airfare reconciliations
Promptly answer inquiries from travelers, project administrators and vendors
Assist with other accounting department responsibilities as assigned
Assist with monthly, quarterly and year close tasks as needed
Basic accounting skills and knowledge of accounting processes
1 - 2 years' experience working in accounting or finance field
Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance field or similar preferred
Effective communication skills both spoken and written, as well as customer service with both internal and external clients, thrives in a team environment
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
ERP systems experience is a plus
Flexibility to work independently and as a team player
Ability to prioritize tasks and meet policy driven deadlines
Strong organization skills, attention to detail
Must have legal authorization to work in the United States.
