Primary Responsibilities

Ensures the accurate and timely completion of client invoicing by

  • Performing data entry and maintenance of contract budgets in billing system

  • Preparing client invoices and credit memos in accordance with the contract terms

  • Performing project reconciliations as needed

  • Printing, mailing or emailing invoices and credit memos

Performs collection activities by

  • Analyzing and monitoring the accounts receivable aging

  • Following up on delinquent accounts and reporting on collection status

  • Investigating and resolving invoice discrepancies

  • Interacting with clients and internal personnel on invoice related issues

  • Responding to client inquiries in a timely manner

Maintains Quality Service and Departmental Standards by

  • Reading, understanding and adhering to organizational Standard Operating Procedures ("SOP")

  • Participating in establishing and enforcing departmental standards

  • Participating in the modification of company SOPs related to the Finance Department

Secondary Responsibilities

Contributes to team effort by

  • Working with internal staff to resolve issues

  • Exploring new opportunities to add value to organization and departmental processes

  • Helping others to achieve results

  • Performing other duties as assigned

Maintains Technical and Industry Knowledge by

  • Attending and participating in applicable company-sponsored training

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration or related field required

Experience:

  • Direct experience in accounts receivable and collections preferred

  • General knowledge and experience with bookkeeping principles and office practices and procedures

  • Proven ability in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with clients and co-workers

  • Proficiency in Excel and Word required

Additional skill set:

  • Pleasant and professional phone manner

  • Ability to work in group setting and independently; ability to adjust to changing priorities

  • Excellent attention to detail and orientation toward meticulous work; strong organizational skills

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written

  • Ability to maintain professional and positive attitude

Working conditions:

Travel: 0-5%

Lifting: 0-15lbs

Other: Computer work for long periods of time

This role provides accounting and financial analysis support to the Corporate Staff Finance lead, head of Technical Accounting, and Facilities finance team for the integration related activity to support significant BMS/Celgene site rationalizations. In addition to supporting our facilities integration, this role will support the respective Cost Center COE organizations (Corporate Staff, WW Commercial Functions, Facilities) on certain accounting and finance initiatives, including those that improve upon our general financial/accounting analyses and processes. Position requires a very motivated, self-starter with a diverse accounting background that is capable of working with every level of management. BMS / Celgene Facilities Integration * Support all accounting aspects of the BMS/Celgene Facilities integration initiatives, which includes: * Partnering with Technical accounting to develop action items and process steps for when facilities-related business decisions are made * Summarizing the impacts on our GAAP & Non-GAAP results of such decisions (actuals and budgets) * Partnering with COE Finance team to track and report on status of action items for each site decision * Partnering with Celgene accounting & finance team to drive review of fixed assets ledgers (including leases) and identifying impacts from the acquisition * Preparing adhoc analysis as needed to ensure compliance with US GAAP; write accounting memos and position papers to document key accounting decisions on site rationalizations * Supporting international decisions and partnering with accounting colleagues to ensure and track impacts * Partnering with COE Facilities team to helping to track cost & savings associated with facilities integration initiatives * Assist facilities finance team in supporting their business partners on project and strategic business decisions; including the build out of current / proposed sites * Partner with global process owners for the planned conversion of General Ledgers from Oracle to SAP Supporting Corporate Staff, Facilities and Commercial Functions Accounting * Act as designee for various day-to-day accounting processes of the Corporate Staff team, including: disposals/ARF verifications, asset attestations, providing lease accounting support, completing contract reviews, etc. * Partner with COE team(s) to identify accounting policies and processes that affect each operating group/department; identify gaps and/or ways to improve our processes; develop closing checklists; help team to document processes more efficiently * Act as subject matter expert for all accounting matters related to the supported businesses and projects, including partnering with Technical Accounting on new business initiatives that require accounting expertise * Take lead on any accounting issues that arise; partner with Business Controls team; follow-up and ensure delivery of audit recommendations Drive Select Corporate Reporting Initiatives * Develop, track and analyze various metrics to report, monitor and measure Corporate Staff and Facilities critical balance sheet items * Develop processes for and to drive reporting and analysis of Corporate Staff legal entity expenses in an effort to improve the accuracy of forecasting legal entity profitability Desired Experience * CPA required * Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance * An experienced leader with a minimum of 7 years diversified experience in accounting and/or finance * Strong accounting, financial and analytical skills * Demonstrated business partnering * Proven track record of successful collaboration working on various projects and initiatives in a matrix environment that compete for demands on time and resources * Strong oral, written, presentation, and interpersonal skills are vital to interact and influence with different business partners. * Very high level of proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint required * Solid understanding of US GAAP, corporate accounting policies and the financial control environment Bristol-Myers Squibb recognizes the importance of balance and flexibility in our work environment.
