Our P&C accounting department seeks an outgoing and energetic accountant or associate accountant. This role will receive training focused on using accounting and financial data to administer our incentive and bonus programs for agencies, specifically our profit-sharing agreements. This role will also support our Sales & Marketing team by providing valuable customer service, as well as advising agents as they navigate our agency compensation programs. This role will also perform accounting reconciliations, reporting and profitability analyses, as well as assist with various accounting projects to help us maintain our competitive advantage.

The pay range for the associate accountant position is $60,000 - $65,000 annually. The pay range for our accountant position is $65,000 - $70,000 annually. The pay determination is based on the applicant's education, experience, location, knowledge, skills, and abilities. Eligible associates may also receive an annual cash bonus and stock incentives based on company and individual performance.

To assist qualified associates with their goal of achieving the CPA designation, Cincinnati Insurance offers a program that includes study time, financial support for the exam and additional required education, and financial incentives to attain the CPA.

Be ready to:

• assist with the profit-sharing process, including preparing agency statements, validating data and calculations, analyzing trends and creating reports
• prepare quarterly accruals related to profit-sharing and incentive programs
• prepare and distribute estimated profit-sharing statements to agents
• provide exceptional customer service to senior leaders, our Sales & Marketing department and agents by researching and answering agency compensation related questions (via phone, Teams, face-to-face or email)
• perform daily and monthly tasks as assigned
• review large claims related to the profit-sharing contract
• calculate various incentive programs, guaranteed supplemental commission programs and surety profit sharing
• assist in contract performance analysis, as well as future contract development
• assist in the completion of internal and external audits
• complete state assessments and filings as required by insurance regulators
• assist in accounting projects as needed

Be equipped with:

• strong attention to detail, organization skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently
• a willingness and ability to learn and use accounting and analytical software systems
• the ability to effectively use Microsoft Excel
• good communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written
• the ability to work independently or collaboratively without hesitation to ask questions
• a demonstrated aptitude to lead and embrace change

You've Earned:

• bachelor's degree in Accounting
• will accept applications from students who will graduate in May/June 2024
• 0 to 2 years of Accounting experience or equivalent relevant work experience
• previous accounting-related internship experience (preferred)
