The Position
Accounting Assistants perform clerical accounting work in the maintenance of accounts and accounting records for State agencies.

Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.
Incumbents function as first-line supervisors who train, supervise, and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; assign and review work; and initiate disciplinary action. The Aging and Disability Services Division (ADSD) is currently recruiting for a full time Accounting Assistant 3 position in Carson City, Nevada. This recruitment may be used to fill current and future vacancies as they occur in the Fiscal/Administration unit.
This position will assist in the operation of the payroll department by reviewing timesheets in NEATS for accuracy and proper authorization and apply pay clerk approval; assists with retro pays, leave balance and pay adjustments, stale claims, overpayments and workers' comp buybacks; responds to supervisor and employee's inquiries in payroll matters; and assists with formal staff training in NEATS for new and existing ADSD employees. Incumbent must be able to both manually and electronically, audit and process payable/receivable documents for multiple budget accounts according to standard procedures.
Documents are to be audited for correct complex budget account coding, mathematical accuracy, and appropriate backup before applying final PEN4 approval into the state accounting system.
