Responsibilities
About the role:
The Accounting Analyst provides support on a variety of accounting activities, including serving as the administrator for the North America account reconciliation system, ad-hoc accounting research, and functioning as the liaison with Policy Administration in order to manage the North America General Ledger group's policy responsibilities. In addition, the Accounting Analyst may prepare journal entries, perform and assist others with difficult and involved reconciliations, research and assist others with exceptions, and analyze trends and costs to validate results. This team member relies on several years of experience and judgment to plan and accomplish a variety of job functions and closing activities. The Accounting Analyst works under very limited supervision and interacts with other departments and/or external parties when necessary.
In this role, you will:
Serve as the administrator for the reconciliation software program by assigning duties and roles in the system, maintaining reporting, and monitoring compliance with deadlines
Assist with coordination of the General Ledger group's policy process, including ensuring appropriate GL group member review and reasonable completion timelines
Review general ledger reconciliations for policy and SOX compliance, as well as looking for process improvement ideas
Assist with providing the external and internal auditors documentation requested as a part of their SOX testing
Prepare and input complex journal entries to the general ledger
Calculate and validate accruals and assist and guide others with the same
Prepare complex monthly management reports and analysis, which includes ad-hoc, one-time requests with little or no direction
Prepare reconciliations of assigned general ledger accounts and review reconciliations performed by others as assigned
Research, document and resolve the most difficult reconciling items, which requires advanced problem solving capabilities
Lead requirements related to documentation and compliance with SOX
Question and investigate unusual / non-routine transactions and account balance variances
Qualifications

Working knowledge of account reconciliations and financial statements
Strong background with automated accounting and financial systems
Understand how to develop and execute a test script and document findings
Ability to lead, coach and mentor team members
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Experience with financial reporting tools and database query tools
Perform analysis on monthly financial statements and also on complex transactions
Strong organizational and analytical skills
Ability to work independently
Advanced knowledge of Excel
Detail oriented
