JOB OVERVIEW

Attention to detail and financial acumen? Join the Montana Department of Corrections as an Accountant, contributing to the fiscal integrity of our vital operations. Your pivotal role involves precise preparation, examination, and analysis of financial statements and documents, applying advanced accounting principles, and swiftly resolving discrepancies.

• Duties include evaluating documentation provided and reconciling to ensure accuracy for making payments.

• Reconcile invoices, research and resolve accounting discrepancies, and collaborate with agency members and providers to address issues.

• Responsibilities encompass classifying, recording, and reporting financial operations with accuracy, and providing valuable insights for budgeting decisions.

• Actively participate in developing streamlined accounting procedures to ensure compliance with financial regulations.

• Maintain accurate financial records by meticulously managing accounting ledgers, journals, and registers.

• Reconcile statements and transactions for reliable financial reporting.

• Provide guidance to technical and/or support staff, fostering a collaborative work environment.

• Participate in claims analysis through data warehouse.

• Ability to gather verify and analyze medical claims to resolve complex problems.

The hourly rate of this position will increase by $1.50 per hour or 4% whichever is greater starting July 1, 2024, in accordance with HB13.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field.

• Other combinations of education or experience may be substituted.

• Preferred qualifications include a strong background in medical billing, offering valuable expertise that enhances the candidate's potential contributions to our dynamic team.
