Description of Duties/Essential Functions Benefits Supplemental Questions

Under general supervision, performs a variety of professional accounting duties; establishes and maintains Accounts Payable entries for the agencies serviced by Public Safety Shared Services; makes daily entries into Accounting Information Systems (AIS) and Comptroller systems reports; makes daily entries into Accounts Payable systems; reconciles Comptroller Cash Balance with Cash Book.

Minimum Requirements:
Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four years of college, with courses in business administration and accounting or four years of technical accounting experience; requires elementary knowledge of professional accounting and auditing theory, principles, methods and procedures; requires elementary knowledge of the laws, rules, and regulations relating to state or non-state accounting or auditing procedures; requires elementary knowledge of office methods, procedures, standard office accounting machines and equipment; requires elementary knowledge of Excel and AIS computer systems.

Conditions of Employment: Requires the ability to pass the IDOC/IDJJ background check.

On January 1, 2020, the Cannabis Regulation and Tax Act will make it legal for residents over the age of 21 to produce, consume and sell cannabis in Illinois. Please note that although the law has changed, the Department will continue to enforce the Department's zero tolerance Drug Testing policy.

The use of unauthorized drugs, including cannabis, by an employee, regardless of the position held is prohibited.

Work Hours & Location/Agency Contact: Anticipated Starting Salary: $3,727/month; $44,724/year

Current bargaining unit employees - Contractual language applies

Full bargaining unit range: $44,724/year - $67,968/year

  • Alternative Formula eligibility to be determined at time of hire.

If this position requires an automated/skills test, candidates must take this test by the close of the posting period in order to receive a grade.

WORK HOURS: 8:00 a.m.- 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday with Saturday / Sunday off.
