The Staff Accountant is responsible for the preparation, analysis, and reporting of financial data in an accurate and timely manner for month and quarter end financial close. The position will be responsible for various accounting areas, including the accounting for Fixed Assets, Leases, Software as a Service Arrangements, and Tour Player Accruals . Monthly tasks will include verification of financial records and transactions, preparation of journal entries, reconciliation of accounts, fluctuation analysis, and collaboration with the business and other accounting teams. The ideal candidate combines excellent communication and analytical skills with a comprehensive knowledge of U.S. GAAP to identify potential areas of opportunity and risk, as well as ensure completeness and accuracy of financial data. This position will be a member of the corporate accounting team, reporting directly to the Manager of General Accounting and Consolidations.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage the full accounting process related to Americas Fixed Assets, Leases, Software as a Service Arrangements, and Tour Player Accruals, including assessment of transactions, recording journal entries and preparation of account reconciliations.

  • Manage the Fixed Asset system (BNA), and ensure accuracy of data within the system, including asset value, in-service dates, useful lives and disposals.

  • Communicate with business to validate and monitor Fixed Asset in-service dates and disposals.

  • Prepare monthly fixed asset rollforward.

  • Help analyze and ensure the proper accounting and recording of Software as a Service Arrangements, including validation of in-service date and amortization period.

  • Manage communication of lease additions and modifications, review accuracy of lease data in the lease accounting system (Tango), record monthly lease journal entries produced by the system, and prepare lease account reconciliations.

  • Record Tour Player Accruals and reconcile activity to contracts and AP payments. Work with Manager of Tour Services to ensure accuracy of payments and accruals.

  • Analyze and provide explanations for P&L fluctuations related to the areas of Fixed Assets, Leases, Software as a Service Arrangements, and Tour Player Accruals.

  • Identify and resolve errors that might occur during close leveraging SAP and Business Objects report queries.

  • Support Manager, as needed, with reconciling intercompany transactions.

  • Assist with special projects and other ad hoc requests.

  • Identify ways to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of accounting processes.

  • Ensure compliance with SOX controls.

  • Assist with internal and external financial audits through process walkthroughs, and providing support for audit requests.

  • Gather data and help to complete government surveys.

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)

  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of generally accepted accounting principles.

  • Skilled at solving problems and thinking creatively or "out of the box".

  • Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy of work.

  • Self-starter who takes the initiative to start and complete assignments without direct supervision. Able to work independently.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and Word.

  • Versed in SAP, BNA (fixed asset system), Tango (lease system) is a plus.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance or equivalent work experience required.

  • 2-4 years of related accounting or public accounting experience.

  • CPA or progress toward CPA designation is a plus.

  • Experience in working with multiple international legal entities with foreign currencies is a plus.
