Belcan has a job for an Accountant in Dayton, Ohio with a government contractor. The individual will perform moderately difficult tasks for the companys accounting function. Interfaces with Contracts on issues relating to government accounting standards.

Responsibilities:

Performs a variety of administrative accounting tasks in support of customer projects/programs, which consists of generating and submitting customer billings/invoices. Types of invoices include, but may not be limited to:

  • cost reimbursable vouchers

  • Time and Material vouchers

  • performance based milestone invoices

  • progress payment requests

  • shipper sales orders

Performs moderately difficult tasks for the companys accounting function

Interfaces with Contracts on issues relating to government accounting standards

Tracks and forecasts contract profit/loss

Tracks WBS costs back to appropriate contract

Prepares budgets and monitors performance

Analyzes subsidiary ledgers and reconciles to general ledger

Monitors unbilled receivables and performs research and follow up to assist in clearing them off the books

Balances books and prepares accounting statements (i.e., profit/loss, income, cash flow, etc.) and schedules

Records assets and liabilities and other financial transactions

Maintains records of disbursements and expenses

Participates in team efforts to improve functioning of the department and generate needed results

Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization

Requirements:

Bachelors Degree in Accounting with at least 2 years directly related of experience, preferably in a government contracting environment (or equivalent combination of education/training and experience

Experience using Microsoft office products and familiar with Deltek/Costpoint

VIEW JOBS 8/16/2018 12:00:00 AM 2018-11-14T00:00 Role and Responsibility: §Responsible for preparing journal entries, account reconciliations supporting journals, supplementary schedules, etc. in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Statutory Accounting Principles (STAT) or other basis as deemed applicable §Prepare the completion of general ledger accounts and financial statements including the compilation of regulatory financial statements, etc. on a timely and accurate basis. §Prepare analysis of costs, revenues, financial commitments and obligations incurred to predict future revenues and expenses §Make appropriate improvements to internal accounting processes ensuring that practices are in line with the overall goals of the organization. §Prepare and maintain all necessary internal controls for related entities consistent with Model Audit Rule (MAR) requirements §Participate in the audit and report functions including financial and regulatory audits §Research existing and new legislation, changes in financial accounting standards and National Association of Insurance Companies (NAIC) statutory requirements, including accounting transactions, and documents the impact and accounting requirements, including journal entries and financial reporting presentation and disclosures, in compliance with GAAP and/or STAT §Support the VP and Director of Accounting for all independent financial accounting, MAR and internal control audits and other regulatory and financial related audits §Participate in on-time filing of all internal and external financial reports §Prepare and analyze account activity for monthly and annual financials §Provide support for a specific area(s) of the finance department §Perform any other job related instructions as requested Key Decision Rights: §Utilize key accounting and reporting experience and knowledge to record, reconcile and report general ledger account activity in accordance with GAAP or STAT as applicable §Assess internal controls and make appropriate recommendations for changes to ensure compliance with MAR, regulatory and other organization requirements Cross Functional Interactions: Will have supervised interaction with all departments, typically at the managerial level Requirements Education / Experience: § Bachelor of Science/Arts Degree in accounting, finance or related field is required § Two to four (2-4) years of experience in accounting/finance is required § Managed Care or healthcare experience is preferred Required Competencies / Knowledge / Skills: § Familiar with a variety of accounting concepts, practices and procedures § In depth knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and/or Statutory Accounting Principles (STAT) § Relies on accounting knowledge, experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals § Perform a variety of tasks under general supervision § Demonstrates analytical/problem solving skills § Perform a variety of tasks, some of which may be complicated § Possesses critical thinking/listening skills § Ability to communicate with all levels of management § Ability to work independently § Detail oriented § Intermediate proficiency level with Microsoft Office Licensure / Certification: § Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or other equivalent certification is preferred Accountability: Working Conditions: § General office environment; may be required to sit or stand for long periods of time May be required to travel occasionally The statements contained herein describe the essential functions of this position.
