Job Description Job Description Staff Accountant Overview The GBS Group, an engineering services and consulting firm, is seeking a motivated and reliable accounting team member to join our team at our main office located in Virginia Beach. As a Staff Accountant, you will support and assist the Accounting Department in the day-to-day operations.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Support duties related to accounts payable and accounts receivable functions to include vendors setups, responding to vendor inquiries and reaching out to customer for payment information updates. Support the Project Control Department with Subcontractor invoice receiving, tracking, routing for and verifying approvals to the appropriate PC and Project Manager Research and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.

Maintain confidentiality of all financial data Interpret and apply accounting policies, rules, and regulations to all work to ensure compliance with applicable standards. Perform basic office task such filing records and compile and prepare routine reports as needed. Reconciliations, expense reimbursement payments, payroll liabilities Provide support for closing a period and financial reporting as needed.

Qualifications: Candidates for this position must possess the following professional experience and qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in accounting General ledger knowledge and experience with accounting software Microsoft Business Central is highly desirable. Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications a must.

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of vendors/customers Self-motivated and highly organized. Work well with little supervision. Team player.
