Position at Taylor Communications Secure & Customer Solutions, Inc.

The Accountant position will be heavily involved in supporting revenue recognition, accounts receivable, accounts payable and month-end close processes, ensuring proper accounting controls and processes across multiple locations. This person will report directly to the Controller and work closely with various corporate teams and finance personnel across other locations. This position requires a detail oriented person with initiative to improve processes and the ability to work in a dynamic and changing environment.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Own the accounting aspects of accounts receivable and account payable, including revenue recognition, credit limit reviews, vendor rebates and analysis and reporting

  • Perform intercompany balancing

  • Prepare timely and accurate journal entries

  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts, ensuring accuracy and proper controls

  • Assist with other monthly closing activities as assigned

  • Proactively improve processes to drive accuracy and efficiency

  • Provide analysis and support for the annual audit

  • Participate in project work as needed

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Undergraduate degree in Accounting preferred

  • 1+ years accounting experience

  • Experience with Lawson or other automated accounting systems

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel

  • Ability to work in a dynamic and changing environment

  • Strong critical thinking skills, always seeking to draw connections and identify the "why"

  • Ability to implement process improvements to drive increased accuracy and efficiency

  • Well-developed interpersonal skills with ability to forge strong relationships

Position Summary and Primary Responsibilities: This position is responsible for providing accounting and finance support for Land O'Lakes Venture37 (V37) projects worldwide; including month end close, accounts payable, billing, reconciliations and financial reporting. Month End Close, Reconciliations & Reporting (30%) - Responsible for assisting with the accurate and timely month end close process; including keying journal entries, running labor distribution for assigned countries, completing field voucher reviews, completing the inter-company work order (IWO) process in Costpoint for international countries, and completing monthly reconciliations for assigned balance sheet accounts. Responsible for the review, publishing and monitoring of HQ management reporting; including travel advances, prepaid airfare and non-allowables; as well as similar tasks and reporting for the field. Field Support, Monitoring & Training (25%) - Develops and/or conducts field training field training in-country and via Microsoft Teams or WebEx with overseas accounting staff on intermediate and advanced accounting topics. Responsible for field support; including the review and follow up on field monthly balance sheet reconciliations; reporting to HQ management on issues on trends within the field reconciliations and answering accounting and/or Costpoint questions for the field accountants. External Audit Support (15%) - Provides support to ongoing donor audits; including generating accounting reports from Costpoint for sample selection, preparing and organizing audit sample documentation and communicating with the field on missing documentation. Accounts Payable Processing (15%) - Responsible for the review and posting of accounts payable transactions and operating funds requests, recording cash receipts, and the monthly reconciliation of investment accounts. Also trained as a backup for processing as needed. Operational & Financial Analysis Support (10%) – Provides financial analysis support to V37 operational teams as needed. This can include, but is not limited to, support for expense analysis, forecast reviews, and reviewing budgets for NBD proposals. Reporting & Supervision: Reports directly to the Director of Finance.
