Accountant

System One is actively seeking a Accountant for a contract position located in Minneapolis, MN. This position will be supporting our client, a Fortune 500 company with over 11,000 employees.

The position will be supporting two teams:

Corporate Accounting Team: Typically, around 8 people, though there are currently a couple of openings and Business Area Accounting Team: Consists of 6-7 people.

Consultants/Accounting Leads: Experienced individuals who help lead the work and support the team manager. Accountant Responsibilities:

Month-end close activities: Preparing and posting journal entries. Accruals: Creating accrual-type journal entries in collaboration with operations areas.

Account reconciliations: Ensuring accounts are accurately reconciled. Internal control and SOX testing:

Assisting with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance testing. Documentation and cross-training: Documenting processes and ensuring proper cross-training.

Additionally, the resource may be involved in project work, contributing to process documentation and improvement initiatives. This role could be considered both. An individual contributor because you have tasks that you are responsible for, however, completing those tasks comes with collaboration amongst the team.

Navigate and utilize SAP systems effectively for various accounting functions. Accountant Requirements: Educational Background:

A bachelor's degree in accounting or finance is required, ensuring a solid foundation in accounting principles and practices. Extensive Accounting Experience: Minimum of 7 years of experience in accounting, demonstrating a strong background in traditional accounting tasks such as month-end close activities, journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations.

Proficiency with Technology and ERP Systems: Experience with SAP or other ERP systems is essential. Excel Expertise:

Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel are crucial for tasks such as data analysis, creating financial reports, and managing large datasets. Internal Controls and SOX Compliance: Familiarity with internal controls and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance testing is important for ensuring the integrity and accuracy of financial reporting.

These skills and qualifications will enable the candidate to effectively support the corporate accounting and business area accounting teams, contributing to both traditional accounting work and project-based initiatives. Strong communication skills, cross functional team experience. Fast learner, attention to detail, problem solving.

Accounting Experience working for a larger company. CPA license would be nice to see. Would like to see experience doing contract/temporary work, with longer assignments.

Contract Duration: 6-Months (Possible Extension) Pay Rate: $72/hr. Project Location: Minneapolis, MN (Downtown) Work Schedule:

In the office 3 days per week: Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday with remote work on Monday and Friday. Flexible during month end close.
