Position Description

Compensation: $49,797.55 - $62,246.94

Position Summary:

Provides accounting, auditing and financial internal controls relating to Palladium Theater department budgets, grants, credit card reconciliation, event settlements and other programs and their respective funding sources.

Typical Essential Duties

  • Performs financial analysis reporting and other program administration by establishing supporting records, reporting procedures, event settlements, and timetables. Performs fiscal year opening and closing activities,

  • Works closely with Accounting Department. Palladium Executive Director, Operations Director and other staff to establish budgeting and other business operations;

  • Reconciles Palladium activities in Quick Books to PeopleSoft Finance;

  • Provide historical analysis on repeat events and repeat clients as requested from Management;

  • Prepares ledger entries to maintain Palladium activity, grant or program activity accounts;

  • Maintain event contract data files including final settlements and other documentation;

  • Assist with grant writing and managing any Palladium grants while ensuring expenditure compliance to grant award documents,

  • Prepare year-end compilation of data and support from Quick Books for IRS 990 Unrelated Business Income Tax return

Requirements:

Education:

Bachelor's degree in accounting or in a realted field to assigned area.

Experience:

Two (2) years experience in the accounting or auditing field. Experience in fund accounting is preferred. Experience in fund accounting is preferred. The college requires a strong background in accounting for multiple entity activities.

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job may be acceptable in lieu of those requirements listed above.

  • Auditing practices;

  • Financial analysis techniques;

  • Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP);

  • Applicable Federal, State, and Local laws, rules, regulations, and guidelines;

  • Account reconciliation methods;

  • Financial recordkeeping techniques;

  • Account preparation, review, and control methods;

  • Mathematical principles;

  • Automated accounting systems;

  • Computers and related software applications.

Skills:

  • Ability to analyze and maintain complex computerized accounting records;

  • Possession of a high degree of accuracy.

  • Preparing comprehensive accounting reports;

  • Reading, analyzing, verifying, reconciling, and approving accounting transactions;

  • Applying GAAP principles;

  • Gathering, analyzing, and evaluating financial data and making recommendations;

  • Maintaining accounting systems and processes;

  • Researching and correcting discrepancies;

  • Using a computer and related software applications;

  • Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with subordinates, coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to give and receive work direction.

Physical:

  • Positions in this class typically require: reaching, standing, walking, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.

  • Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.

Potential Frequency

Prepares budgets for assigned departments; reviews and modifies budgets as necessary; tracks revenues and expenditures; prepares and provides financial information as requested.

Researches discrepancies in the accounting system which includes auditing, compiling, calculating, and analyzing a variety of fiscal data.

Coordinates projects of the accounting function, ensures compliance with Federal, State, and local laws, regulations, codes, and/or standards.

Prepares standard management fiscal and organizational reports, including ad-hoc reports.
