D.R. Horton, Inc. is currently looking for an Accountant-Senior in the Accounting Department. The right candidate will perform various accounting or finance functions with limited supervision by being able to identify issues, research, develop solutions and implement such solutions. Apply principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports. Assist in maintaining budgets and projected costs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Assist in the preparation of the company's financial statements
Analyze and assist in the implementation of new accounting standards
Conduct monthly close procedures and ensure that deadlines are met
Review job costs for budget variances, cost code errors, dollar amount errors on invoices, etc.
Land spreadsheet for payments
Run various reports and perform budget tracking
A/P related duties for Land Development items (i.e.,code and obtain approval of invoices)
Assist Land Development Project Manager with bidding process: preparing bid letters, accumulating plans to go with the bid letter, and inputting bids into a spreadsheet
Prepare monthly balance sheet account reconciliations
Apply GAAP to a variety of business transactions
Perform account analysis and reconciliation for significant balance sheet accounts
Review and analyze financial statements
Prepare journal entries as needed
Other ad hoc analyses, reports, and projects as needed by division management
Conducts all business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and increase the goodwill and profit of the company
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's degree in Accounting from a four-year college or university
Four to six years of related experience and/or training
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral form or via DRH applications
Proficiency with MS Office and email
Preferred Qualifications
CPA/CFA or demonstrate candidacy is strongly preferred
Strong communication skills
Ability to multi-task and attention to detail
Ability to accurately and efficiently process and record a large volume of data
