Job Description:
TITLE: Accountant- Reconciliation & Reporting Federal Financial Aid
DEPARTMENT : Administration & Finance
SUPERVISOR : Controller

General Statement of Duties: The Federal Financial Aid Accountant holds a central position in overseeing the preparation, processing, reconciliation, reporting, and maintenance of financial and accounting documentation for Federal Financial Aid Programs

Responsibilities:

The Federal Financial Aid Accountant navigates the complexities of compliance, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards, and plays an important role in maintaining the accuracy and integrity of financial records associated with various aid programs: SEOG, Pell, Federal Work Study & Direct Loans.

The individual actively engages in the reconciliation processes, addressing potential discrepancies, contributing to the generation of timely and accurate reports. Work closely with the Financial Aid Office on matters related to Financial aid programs. Prepare all Journal Entries and monitors, reconciles, and reports Federal financial aid funds.

Provides monthly reports for MA -MMARS 901 Reporting of Federal Fin Aid Revenue and Expenses Prepare and submit Federal financial institutional reports, including FISAP. Coordinate oversight and drawdown of federal funds, reconciling G5/6 systems with Federal COD systems. Assist in the Direct Loan Program reconciliation process.

Serve as the department expert on matters related to account drawdown of federal funds. Analyze financial aid data to identify trends, patterns, and areas for improvement. Present findings to the management team and contribute to strategic decision-making. Manage Perkins Loans, reconciliations and Loan Assignment Liquidation Process.

Requirements:
Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting. Minimum 3 to 5 years' experience or more years of increasingly responsible experience as a professional accountant or financial analyst, which includes budgeting and fiscal accounting and reporting experience Ability to demonstrate high skill levels in Excel Spreadsheets (Pivot Tables, Lookups etc.) and other tools for accounting, financial analysis and reporting.

Ability to monitor and evaluate fiscal and/or accounting activities and internal controls. Ability to prepare comprehensive reports and recommendations. Ability to work independently.

Excellent written and oral communication skills with individuals and groups. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. The ability to perform assigned duties in a manner consistent with applicable laws, regulations and goals of the institution.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in Higher Education or non-profit preferred. Supervisory experience, ability to work with limited supervision Strong analytical, organization and problem-solving skills
