Job Summary
The staff accountant performs accounting activities including posting, summarizing, and reconciling accounts. This position will work closely with other accounting and finance team members to ensure accuracy of the general ledger and financial reports. This onsite position is located in Farmington, MI.
As an Accountant, you will:
Review general ledger transactions for proper coding, completeness and accuracy
Accurately prepare and post monthly recurring journal entries and adjusting journal entries
Prepare bank sheet account reconciliations
Prepare monthly financial reports and analysis for business stakeholders
Prepare equipment schedules and depreciation
Adhere to month-end and year-end close calendars
Assist with annual audit requests
Assist with ad hoc requests from management
Calculate standard costs for labor, burden, and equipment in accordance with company policy
To be considered an Accountant, you will need:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
Minimum 1 year of experience in accounting
Proficiency in MS Office Suite with intermediate skills in Excel including v-look ups and pivot tables
Accuracy, be detail-oriented, possess strong organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to adapt well to change, prioritize work assignments, and work under pressure to meet deadlines
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently
Ability to take direction and responsibility for work assigned
Ability to work overtime as needed
A successful candidate may also have:
PeopleSoft experience
Strong research skills
Cost accounting for inventory and manufacturing
Multi-entity and multi-lines of business
