We are searching for candidates that meet the required qualifications and experience and are able to perform the essential duties and responsibilities.

Job Summary:

Perform a variety of accounting tasks with differing degrees of complexity. Apply generally accepted accounting principles and procedures to reconcile, analyze data and transactions, and prepare statements and reports.

Required Qualifications:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Review, analyze, and reconcile various accounts on the general ledger and the subsidiary ledger for accuracy including areas of accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, and fixed assets.

  • Compile and analyze financial information to prepare journal entries for general ledger accounts, updating documentation as needed.

  • Assist in the preparation of reports by preparing and reviewing data required by various reporting agencies including local, state or federal.

  • Assist with the preparation of audit schedules, financial statements, and statistical data related to the annual audit and Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR).

Supplemental Functions

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of not-for-profit accounting and accounting systems

  • Knowledge of GASB, GAAP, and accounting best practices

  • Knowledge of Excel and Word

  • Willingness to take initiative, prioritize and perform proactively

  • Effective written and oral communication skills

  • Effective organizational and oral communication skills

  • Ability to work under pressure and time constraints to meet deadlines

  • Ability to communicate effectively with personnel and with internal and external partners

Physical Demands, Working Conditions and Physical Effort

Sedentary Work - Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, a negligible amount of force frequently, and/or constantly having to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met. Positions in this class typically require talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, walking and repetitive motions. Relatively free from unpleasant environmental conditions or hazards. Office environment. Little physical effort required.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or a related business administration field of study (with at least 12 hours of accounting) from an accredited institution.

To be considered for the position, you must attach your resume and transcripts (unofficial transcripts are acceptable). If your degree was earned outside the United States, an official course-by-course evaluation from a NACES-approved member is required.
