This Accountant role supports the Operational Accounting team in our FinanceOrganization at AXA. The primary focus of this position is to oversee thereconciliation and reporting of transactions of the life operationsbusiness. The position prepares analyses and journal entries, createsvarious ad hoc management reporting, engages with members of our offshoresupport team to monitor and review their processes, provides support for auditand regulatory requests, reviews staff journal entries and accountreconciliations, prepares documentation of standard operating practices, and identifiesopportunities for improvement. The ideal candidate will have experience inoverseeing account reconciliation teams, is comfortable troubleshootingreconciliation and data issues, has the ability to communicate outside ofFinance department to develop relationships with sales and reporting, and caneffectively document process flows. Responsibilities include:

  • Review balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring all out of balances are identified at a policy level and aged accordingly

  • Engage with financial reporting areas on accelerated close initiatives

  • Manage SOX compliance and regulatory compliance for certain functions

  • Manager Internal Audit requests and ensure compliance

  • Partner with business area on the identification and resolution of system and/or reconciliation issues

  • Monitor offshore preparation of monthly reconciliations of income statement accounts in preparation for annual external audit

  • Provide guidance to offshore business partners on resolving reconciliation issues with balance sheet accounts

  • Review journal entries and provide feedback

  • Perform basic financial trend and account analysis

  • Identify opportunities for efficiencies

  • Assist business areas with accounting requirements from new product requests or updates


  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance

  • Proven problem solving skills

  • Excellent understanding of journal entry processing, balance sheet and income statement concepts

  • Excellent verbal and written skills

  • Basic understanding of financial statement concepts

  • Good analytical skills

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, client-focused, dynamic environment

  • Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines, goals and objectives within assigned time limits

  • Knowledge of the Microsoft suite (Excel, Word, etc)

  • 3+ years general ledger reconciliation experience a must

  • Insurance industry experience is a plus
