JOB SUMMARY:
Ensure the accuracy of the financial statements by performing various accounting duties including, but not limited to, accounting for research and development, leases, and freight, account reconciliations, and internal controls. NewMarket Corporation is a leading manufacturer and marketer of performance enhancing fuel and lubricant additives with operations around the world.
Responsibilities
All aspects of research and development accounting
Post freight invoices, resolve errors, maintain accurate freight accrual balances
Enter new leases, record monthly lease journal entries, reconciliation of lease balance sheet accounts
Account for medical and dental reserves
Supplier rebates
Monthly closing including account reconciliations, journal entries, and various accruals
Respond to internal and external questions
Perform internal controls for assigned processes
Design and prepare reports to meet various internal requirements
Complete special projects as assigned, especially related to SAP enhancements
Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
BS degree in Accounting
Minimum three years of relevant work experience
Proficiency with Microsoft Office software
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
CPA designation
Public accounting experience
Experience with SAP ERP system
Experience with accounting for a manufacturing entity
DESIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
An in-depth understanding of US GAAP and the ability to analyze situations and apply the accounting standards correctly
Effective written and oral communication skills
Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly
Demonstrate initiative and ability to work with only minimal supervision
Ability to analyze processes and implement process improvements
Ability to function effectively in a team environment
Demonstrate effective analytical skills
Able to cope with multiple work interruptions and maintain focus on details
Able to handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently
Able to set appropriate priorities and to organize efforts to meet required deadlines
Able to work overtime as needed
