Prepares daily bank deposits, records credit card transactions, and records daily bank transactions. Assists in preparation of daily cash report. Extracts daily miscellaneous receipt activity from Blackboard. Prepares monthly and year end journal entries to record bank interest, credit card fees, collection agency activity, food service, gifts and miscellaneous cash receipts.
Prepares monthly general ledger and bank reconciliations and identifies, researches, and corrects reconciling items. Analyzes selected general ledger account (income statement and balance sheet) and prepares reconciliations and analyses on monthly and annual basis; prepares adjusting journal entries as needed. Maintains spreadsheets and prepares work papers for yearend financial audit.
Prepares special reports for Federal, New York State, New York City, Nassau County, Suffolk County, and other local jurisdictions for various purposes, including but not limited to income tax, sales tax, liquor license, health department, property tax exemption, and real estate. Maintains calendar for annual renewals, mandatory filings and payments and ensures timely completion and filings. Prepares monthly sales tax returns.
Prepares detailed, daily accounting and cash reconciliation activity for deSeversky Mansion catering and related activities. Monitors cash deposits and reconciles sales and taxes. Compiles unrelated business income tax support and tracks conference activity. Tracks client deposits, food and equipment inventory, receivables and other assets and liabilities.
Assist in tracking and preparation of abandoned property records, and reissuance and clearing of checks and other payments. Prepare spreadsheets for record keeping and assist in related audits.
Assist in New York State audits, other audits and other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting/Finance required with a minimum of 2 years experience in a related field.
Customer service, time management skills and attention to details
Proficient with Microsoft Office.
