Position Overview

Under general supervision of the Finance Manager, is responsiblefor providing accounting or fiscal services according to established policies and procedures.

Summary of Job Duties

Grants and Budgets:

  • Assists in the development of grants, budgets, contracts, and resolutions.

  • Monitors grants, budgets and contracts to conform to policies and procedures, funding source requirements and other regulations.

  • Assists in the development of accounting procedures and fiscal policies and procedures.

  • Makes cost calculations and analysis for fiscal control.

  • Monitors internal records to ensure reconciliation to Montgomery County reports.

  • Assists in biennial financial audits.

Operational Duties:

  • Residents' Account, Work Release Account and Benevolent Account
  • Records revenue and expenditures.
  • Prepares checks or other disbursements.

  • Prepares and deposits funds.

  • Reconciles grant fund accounts and bank accounts monthly.

  • Prepares monthly, quarterly and annual reports, and maintain files.

  • Process requests for phone cards, court costs and child support payments, birth certificates, State ID's etc.

  • Assists in the documentation process that is necessary for meeting accreditation requirements.

  • Purchasing

  • Identifies vendors, obtains prices, and orders products and services. Assists in the development of appropriations.

oPrepares and monitors Purchase Orders and encumbrances.

oProcesses invoices for payment.

oProcesses travel requests.

oAssists in maintaining and taking the fixed asset inventory.

Other:

  • Consults on and assists in computing and compiling various information as needed for special projects.

  • Prepares financial and budgetary reports, statements, and other statistical operational reports.

  • Communicates regularly and in a timely manner with the Supervisor for purposes of supervision, problem solving and job development.

  • Sells meal tickets and collects miscellaneous donations that may be received on behalf of MonDay's Benevolent Account, and assures the security of the funds.

  • Carries out any special projects that may be assigned by the Supervisor.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

1.Potential exists for exposure to disease/illness.

2.This is a minimum security facility, therefore all outside access doors are locked at all times.

Minimum Qualifications and Requirements

1.Associate'sDegree inAccounting,Finance, or related Business degree with 5 years experience, Bachelor's Degree with 2 years experience preferred; in cash handling, accounts payable, or general ledge functions desired.

2.Combined college education and experience in cash handling, accounts payable, or general ledger functions to equal (6) years required.

3.Extensive knowledge of accounting and word processing computer programs: Excel, Microsoft Word and Quicken desired. Also to become proficient in using the Resident's Account Software (Banker).

4.Knowledge of account office practices and procedures; budgeting, checking account balancing, bookkeeping, accounting, financial reporting, inventory.

5.Ability to identify problems, collect and analyze data, establish facts and draw conclusions.

6.Ability to read and write routine reports, statistical information (i.e. punctuation, grammar and spelling at a level normally acquired through the completion of a Bachelor's Degree program).

7.Interpersonal communication skills requiring professional courtesy and tact are necessary to communicate effectively with staff, residents, families, social services, vendors, criminal justice agencies, as well as the general public.

8.Possession of a valid State of Ohio driver's license.
