Accountant III - Office Of Accounting

The University of Texas Permian Basin's Office of Accounting welcomes applications for the position of Accountant III

Salary Range

$60,000.00 depending on qualifications

Essential Functions

This position will be responsible for managing bank accounts, maintaining financial records, performing banking operations, and handling the cash management system. They will be responsible for the application of advanced accounting knowledge and abilities in the preparation of a variety of complex regular and special financial reports and statements. Duties will also include setting up and configuring accounting templates and monitoring all treasury accounting events to verify that all processing has occurred and is correct. Also responsible for setting up, maintaining and reporting on accounting transactions for capitalized assets.

Treasury Accounting Events

• Cash Management (Inflows/Outflows) including operating activities, non-capital financial activities, investing activities, and capital financial activities.

• Daily cash positioning/funding decisions

• Reconciling cash transactions

• Daily liquidity funding

• Project transfers

• Debt payments

• SIA distributions

• Endowments

Asset Tasks

• Adding and maintaining capitalized assets (furniture, equipment, infrastructure, vehicles, etc.)

• Processing asset disposals/retirements

• Processing monthly depreciation and amortization

• Asset physical inventory

• Asset management reporting

Required Qualifications

1.Bachelor's degree in Accounting or other appropriate business-related field

2.Five (5) years full-time professional employment in accounting, auditing, budgeting, or closely related financial activity.

Preferred Qualifications

1.Experience using PeopleSoft ERP

Schedule

Generally, the normal work hours for the university are Monday through Thursday, 7:30 - 5:30 pm; Friday, 8:00 am - 12:00 pm with a one-hour lunch. The individual holding this position may need to be available early morning, evening, and on weekends to meet the needs of the department. Hours worked may differ with some departments.

Standard Working Conditions

1.Able to lift various materials up to 25 pounds on an occasional basis.

2.Able to bend, crouch, and reach continuously.

3.Physically able remain seated, frequently to continuously.

4.Able to remain standing up to 15% of the time.

5.Possesses dexterity abilities required to perform job duties including extensive keyboard work, operating office equipment, performing filing, and other job-related responsibilities that include extensive wrist and hand movement.
