Responsibilities

Looking for a highly motivated individual for position in Accounts Payable department. This strategic and business savvy role provides key reports and presents and interacts with management on financial reporting and variance analysis. This key position manages critical business processes on a daily basis and supports the department as needed in projects, process efficiency optimization, and other areas of this fast-paced organization. Conducts technical accounting research and analysis of current and potential initiatives, identifies issues and drafts white papers for accounting executive management and external auditors as well as administration for other complex payable processes. Successful candidate provides analysis and appropriate supporting documentation, prepares and reviews complex journal entries, and completes and reviews account reconciliations. Records Intercompany Invoices and reconciliation of intercompany accounts monthly. Responsible or supports some 10K/10Q corporate and compliance reporting, compliance reporting, SOX work and various continuous improvement and automation projects within our Accounts Payable team. Position delivers exceptional customer service and builds successful relationships interacting cross-functionally, leading special projects, developing and delivering ad hoc reporting and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance plus 5+ years of accounting or related experience.

  • Intercompany Reconciliations

  • Strong analytical skills and GAAP and IFRS technical knowledge.

  • Position requires excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Advanced PC skills with emphasis on spreadsheet applications.

  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced, dynamic and high-pressured environment.

  • Must be detail oriented and have strong organizational skills.

  • Successful candidate should be a self-motivated, deadline-oriented team player.

  • Must be able to work cross-departmentally and have a strong understanding of process controls to ensure proper financial postings.

Preferred:

  • MBA or other advanced degree, CPA or special skill related to position. SAP experience or equivalent database skills preferred Driven, self-motivated individual contributor.

The Senior GL Accountant is based in Reno and reports directly to the Corporate Controller. The candidate's responsibilities will include assisting in the monthly and quarterly closings, including general ledger analysis and journal entries. This position will also support the company's annual audits and implementation/maintenance of controls in accordance with SOX requirements. Essential Functions: * Responsible for foreign entity financial ledgers * Prepares monthly special reports as required, reviewing each for unusual changes or fluctuations * Month end close, which includes but is not limited to journal entries, corrections, allocations and making sure invoices have been posted correctly * Preparation and communication of monthly and quarterly financial books; assist in reviewing and explaining variances in the results * Summarizes and analyzes accounting and forecast data and prepares periodic reports that provide insight into the company's performance * Prepares balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other financial reports as needed * Assist with the year-end audit, help facilitate in internal and external audits; prepare schedules and other required items * Responsible with maintenance of controls and testing for SOX requirements * Assists in the preparation of periodic financial forecasts, as requested * Additional duties as assigned Required Education, Experience, and Skills: * Requires a Bachelor of Accounting or Related Discipline. * 5+ years of progressive experience in accounting with a recent focus on general ledger support * Exposure to cost accounting * Asist with ad hoc projects as needed * Must be well organized to keep accurate information; very high level of attention to detail is a must * Familiarity with SOX compliance and ability to work with internal and external auditors on a regular basis * Ability to manage smaller foreign assests and entities * Knowledge of ERP systems like IFS or JD Edwards * Advanced Excel skills with the ability to manage large sets of data and manipulating with advanced functions * Ability to travel internationally Preferred Experience and Skills: * CPA Preferred * Experience in manufacturing or production industry highly preferred * Exposure to IFRS preferred * Public accounting experience and/or support of SEC filings highly preferred US Silica Reno NV
