Job Details:

Purpose

To perform accounting and procurement related duties, sharing responsibility for procuring supplies, materials, equipment, and services for Molecular Biosciences. Perform specialized departmental purchasing activities while following established guidelines and federal and state policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Handle procurement duties for the Department of Molecular Biosciences' faculty, process and create purchase orders using PBO, PB3 and PB4 documents. Process UT Market orders through FRMS and assist lab personnel with procedures. Gather and supply financial and factual information from a variety of sources. Backup for MBS purchasing partner.

  • Settle purchasing and receiving problems. Generate correspondence regarding problems and procedures. Performs work and assures all processes are documented according to federal and state policies and procedures. Serves as liaison between the department, University Purchasing Office, Accounts Payable, Document Solutions, and vendors to fulfill procurement needs.

  • Assist MBS Accounts Payable and Grants and Contracts personnel with various accounting issues, such as disencumbering old purchase orders, and providing supporting documents needed for audits.

  • Assist with departmental annual inventory certification.

  • Provide backup support for operational team as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree. At least two years of experience in an accounting or business-related role. Ability to work independently with sensitive and confidential information, maintain a professional demeanor, work as a team member and effectively communicate with all groups of clients. Outstanding organizational and time-management skills. Regular and punctual attendance. Experience providing successful customer service in person, and by phone. Ability to communicate effectively with various internal and external customers. Demonstrated problem-solving skills. Ability to work efficiently and flexibly in a fast-paced environment. Proficient computer skills in MS Office, Adobe Acrobat and use of internet for purchasing and related functions.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in accounting or business-related discipline. Three or more years of experience of related financial experience. Working experience with DEFINE, FMRS, UT Market, PointPlus, and Workday. Knowledge of the university's procurement and payment policies and procedures. Demonstrated ability to perform multiple duties and meet deadlines. Experience working in a university environment.

Salary Range

$55,000 + depending on qualifications

Working Conditions

May work around standard office conditions.
