Job Description:
Location: Construction and Facilities Management Office, 2443 NW 24th Street, Lincoln NE
If we are unable to fill the position at the Accountant II level, we will consider applicants at the Accountant I level to be determined by education and/or experience.
Upon a successful probationary period not to exceed one year and when performing higher level duties, the supervisor can recommend a promotion from Accountant I to Accountant II at a higher rate of pay.
Starting Hourly Pay Rate for the Accountant II level is $23.821.
Starting Hourly Pay Rate for the Accountant I level is $17.216.
Job Duties:
Advises agency personnel concerning accounting procedures and policies
Consults with and advises management on financial matters
Interprets appropriate federal and State laws, rules and regulations
Reconciles complex accounts and authorizes transfer of funds for program expenses and grant funding
Reviews data on vouchers, invoices and other source documents
Other duties as assigned
Requirements / Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
Accountant II: Associates degree in accounting, finance, business administration, statistics or related field and experience with accounting/financial management systems OR 2 years' experience with professional accounting procedures including developing and modifying accounting/financial management systems.
Accountant I: Post high school coursework or vocational education in accounting, finance, business administration or related field OR experience performing accounting functions including interpreting and analyzing financial data.
Other: Background check is required. Must have a valid state driver's license.
Knowledge of accounting practices and federal and State laws and regulations.
Ability to apply principles of accounting and fiscal management.
