Jefferson Franklin Community Action Corp is a non-profit organization services Jefferson and Franklin counties in Missouri. We are looking for someone who has grant fund accounting experience and enjoys being part of a team who supports the Agency's mission.

JOB SUMMARY: In support of the Agency's mission, contributes to a smoothly functioning finance department to ensure that JFCAC demonstrates responsible stewardship of its resources. The Accountant II position maintains an accurate accounting and internal control system(s) and related accounting functions in order to safeguard all Agency resources. Responsibilities include balancing the general ledger, assisting in month-end close, assisting in maintaining a smooth and efficient Fiscal operation, and promoting and supporting Finance Department goals and activities while maintaining inter-office harmony. Ensure compliance with fiscal policies, procedures and GAAP compliance.

MAJOR TASKS:

  • Ensure deadlines for month-end close and financial reporting requirements are met and in accordance with GAAP.

  • Assist with the management of all aspects of accounting activities including:

  • Track and record all appropriate expenses related to government contracts and funding reports to provide accurate reimbursement invoices to funders.

  • Prepare monthly journal entries, accruals, and allocations.

  • Reconcile bank accounts monthly as assigned

  • Participate in and prepare for annual audits and monitoring by grantors.

  • Prepare and review monthly income statements an balance sheets.

  • Review monthly balance sheet reconciliations for accuracy.

  • Record and amortize fixed assets.

  • Work with the CFO to prepare financial reports for management and board.

  • Prepare for annual audit

  • All grant related accounting including the understanding of grant parameters, grant budgets, generating monthly grant billings and reporting.

  • Participate in development of annual program budgets.

  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting

  • Two years' experience

OTHER REQUIRED CAPABILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Non-profit and/or grant accounting experience a plus.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to meet deadlines.

  • Ability to function as a member of a team.

  • Ability to exercise good judgment, courtesy and tact in dealing with the public and other employees, in giving and obtaining information and in making proper disposition of problems as they may arise.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must possess a valid drivers license and active auto insurance.

  • Must be able to comply and meet all required background checks.
