Job Summary:

Engages in activities related to financial analysis reporting and managing Blue Diamond Growers' general ledger. Applies accounting principles through reconciliation of key general ledger accounts and preparation of journal entries. Partners closely with key internal stakeholders, other accountants, and operations personnel to support day-to-day activities.

Job Description:

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Posts daily, monthly, and annual recurring transactions to the general ledger.

  • Oversees financial analysis and reporting of Blue Diamond Growers' international subsidiaries.

  • Consolidates parent company books, reconciles, and reviews trial balance maintained by third party accounting firms.

  • Supports registration and required filings as required by foreign jurisdictions, recovery of local taxes incurred (VAT, GST, etc.), and tax preparation for various ancillary entities.

  • Completes month-end procedures such as calculating estimates, receivables and accruals of expenses.

  • Prepares periodic reports and related analysis for internal and external customers.

  • Engages in timely, accurate, and relevant financial information and general ledger account reconciliations for month-end close to ensure financial statements (internal and external) are prepared accurately, consistently, and in a timely fashion consistent with U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

  • Maintains open item managed general ledger balances within SAP through systematic reconciliations.

  • Troubleshoots systematic and accounting issues that arise from daily and monthly job responsibilities.

  • Applies an understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure.

  • Executes ongoing and project specific SAP testing to evaluate accounting impact of configuration changes and updates prior to placing into production.

  • Interfaces with various business units to ensure accounting activities are accurately reflected and properly flow through the SAP ERP system in accordance with GAAP.

  • Liaises with Finance and Operations departments as well as Global Consumer and Global Ingredients Business Units for monthly reporting and ad-hoc inquiries.

  • Assists management in identifying opportunities to streamline or implement new procedures to increase timeliness, efficiency, and improve the accuracy of financial records and reporting.

  • Assists with audit coordination through preparation of year-end audit schedules.

  • Builds strong relationships with internal stakeholders and participate in interdepartmental and cross-functional projects as necessary.

  • Supports budget and forecasting activities as required.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS

Minimum level of education required

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance.

Minimum number of year(s) of experience required in addition to education plus type(s) of functional experience

  • 2 years of progressive Accounting or Finance experience.

Other required type(s) of functional experience (e.g. Production/Operations, Accounting, Forklift Operator, Inventory Control, etc.)

  • Current GAAP knowledge.

  • Previous experience with contemporary ERP systems, preferably SAP or comparable.

  • Demonstrated analytical skillset and problem solving.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Outlook); advanced skills in Microsoft Excel; experience with Microsoft Visio, Microsoft Project, or Microsoft Access.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Office environment demands including frequent speaking both in person and over the phone; writing, reading files, reports and PC screen. Prolonged sitting at computer terminal. Regular vision concentration for reading and checking reports, forms and data entry.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Typical office environment with low levels of noise and fumes, adequate lighting and comfortable temperature. Use of 10-Key, computer, scanner, fax.

CLA is looking to hire a senior accountant for our growing BizOps practice in our Sacramento (Roseville), CA office. As a senior accountant you will: * Provide advanced accounting services including preparing financial statements, completing account reconciliations, supports month-end closing process, and drafting financial statements. * Independently identify problem areas early, independently research technical issues, and proactively resolve issues as an outsourced member of the clients' accounting services team. * Oversees the BizOps Staff and manage the accounting function for a smaller client. * Interact with clients and engagement team members to provide technical guidance, alternate courses of action, and recommendations for solutions. * Develop broader understanding of GAAP (FASB/SFAS) in a specific industry. * Account Reconciliations: Completes non-complex and some complex account reconciliations and recording transactions. All facets of monthly, quarterly, and annual adjusting and closing process. * Financial Statements: Prepares and independently reviews non-complex client financial statements, balance sheets, income statements, and general ledger. Prepares and reviews financial and statistical reports, analyzing unusual items on financial reports and notifying accounting services team leaders when necessary. * Payroll/Tax Preparation: May prepare tax returns, prepare and review sales tax, payroll tax, and payroll reports in a timely and accurate manner. * Special Projects: Assist with projects for internal audit, due diligence, system selection, and other consulting projects. * Transaction Processing: Complex system transactions. May back up BizOps Staff. Our ideal candidate will have: * Experience: 3 years relative work experience as Staff Accountant or equivalent. * Proficiency and aptitude for applicable software (e.g., Microsoft Excel, QuickBooks, etc.). * BA/BS degree in accounting or related field required. * Ability to travel to local, Northern California client sites as needed. * Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. * Previous public accounting experience (preferred). * CPA certification (preferred). Organizational Interfaces: The BizOps Senior reports directly to an Assistant Controller/Controller/CFO. S/he regularly interacts with local service leaders. S/he also has supervisory responsibilities. Supervises BizOps I & II and may supervise client personnel.
