Acme Smoked Fish Corporation is a fourth generation family business and the largest smoked fish company in the country. Acme manufactures and distributes its products in the US under three core brands (Acme, Blue Hill Bay, and Ruby Bay) and private labels through leading retail and food service institutions.
The Accountant II is responsible for providing accounting services for the manufacturing plant. This includes maintaining financial records and ensuring that financial transactions are properly recorded. This role will ensure the accuracy of entries to ledger accounts and will reconcile the subsidiary ledger accounts to the general ledger. The Accountant II will prepare the balance sheets, profit, and loss statements and other financial schedules for our NC entities. In addition, the Accountant II must have the ability to analyze current costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations incurred to predict future revenues and expenses.

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
2 - 5 years previous accounting experience
Manufacturing and cost accounting experience is preferred, or equivalent cost accounting coursework
Knowledge of inventory valuation methods under a perpetual system
Experience in preparing a Balance Sheet, Profit & Loss Statement, Cash Flow Statement, and Statement of Equity.
Must be at least 18 years old

Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel (including V-lookups, pivot tables, etc.)
Strong Accounting System skills (experience w/ERP systems)

Reviews the coding of Accounts Payable invoices to the general ledger
Determines when purchases should be capitalized. Tracks fixed assets and maintains the related depreciation schedules.
Conducts quarterly physical inventories and issues the inventory valuation report. Ensures inventory cycle counts are completed timely & accurately.
Reconciles all balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis.
Calculates and records monthly overhead allocations.
Prepares the monthly financial statements and related schedules.
Provides monthly production and usage reporting.
Performs other related duties as assigned or requested
Maintains a clean and safe work area
Follows EHS, GMP, HR and other company policies
Demonstrates ability to meet standards on specific assignments within a reasonable time
