This position is in the Tax Accounting unit for the Department of Labor and Regulation, UI Division and involves performing professional level accounting work requiring analysis and judgment under guidance or within the framework of defined policies, procedures, and practices. Employee in this role work with maintaining employer tax and other accounts, development and reporting of financial data, and special projects where analyses of situations or data require a review of a variety of factors.

Successful applicant(s) will be required to undergo a background investigation. An arrest/conviction record will not necessarily bar employment.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
4-year Accounting Degree and 1-2 years of progressive experience is preferred but not required.

Knowledge of:

  • generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), practices, and standards;
  • generally accepted auditing standards (GAAS).

Skill to:

  • keyboard accurately;
  • 10 Key accurately.

Ability to:

  • comprehend and apply pertinent laws, rules, and policies;
  • conduct research, compile, and analyze financial and other data;
  • recognize and evaluate problems, and recommend sound solutions;
  • use computers and applicable accounting software;
  • ability to communicate effectively;
  • ability to function in a team orientated environment;
  • prepare and maintain account records;
  • create, prepare, and complete a variety of reasonably standard financial and other reports;
  • independently perform a complex project;
  • provide technical guidance to and review the work of colleagues.
