This position will assist in the preparation of the monthly financial statements for Park University and the Parkville Commercial Underground (PCU). The position will also prepare supporting reconciliations and journal entries for the general ledger accounts supporting the Park University and Parkville Commercial Underground financial statements as instructed by the Assistant Controller.

Position Accountabilities:

General ledger transactions and reconciliation for the University and Parkville Commercial Underground, which includes:

  • Preparation of certain financial statements and reports as instructed.

  • Analyze, propose and post journal entries monthly to accounts such as prepaid expense.

  • Reconcile monthly cash accounts general ledger accounts.

  • Assist in the annual capitalization analysis and entry.

  • Enter Receivables and Payments for the Parkville Commercial Underground.

  • Prepare LCI billing and monitors accounts for outstanding balances.

  • Recovery of journals and resolution of audit entry problems due to system failure.

  • Assist in preparing work papers for the annual financial audit.

  • Backup other Accounting staff for voiding checks.

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting preferred

  • Alternately, three years of experience in general ledger accounting in lieu of degree

  • This position sits for extended periods of time at a desk. The position also requires the ability to walk to meetings throughout the campus.

  • The ability to use a computer and calculator with proficiency.

VIEW JOBS 10/12/2019 12:00:00 AM 2020-01-10T00:00 Under minimum supervision, the Systems Administrator will support, analyze, design, direct and execute responsibilities that ensure technology applications that support the operations of the Financial Aid department are performing at an optimal level. The incumbent will provide technical assistance and detailed program documentation on the Financial Aid technical application and its relationship to the Student Information System. The Systems Administrator will develop the necessary training materials and manuals for Financial Aid as it pertains to the various Information Technology Systems used by the Financial Aid department. Position Accountabilities * Application performance – Ensure the system is performing as expected day to day. Direct and assist on all required system updates as/when necessary to ensure optimal performance. Ensure integrity of the System data. Lead design/development sessions for the purpose of enhancing business processes, operations, and information process flow. * Technical assistance – Serve as the primary liaison to ITS support services on behalf of the University's Financial Aid department. Ensure all programs needed to facilitate aid processing are loaded and kept up to date for staff use and are interfacing correctly. Develop and install system enhancements requested by constituents. Identify and troubleshoot all integration errors as/when necessary. * Strategy - Meet with decision makers, systems owners, and end users to define business, financial, and operations requirements and systems goals, and identify and resolve systems issues. Initiate interventions with Financial Aid managers when staff are using the system at a sub-optimal level and/or when a business process can be improved by leveraging a new functionality, an unused functionality, or correcting end user engagement that is not as intended for the system design. * Reporting - Lead design/development sessions for the purpose of initiating, launching, and maintaining reports required by the Financial Aid department. Develop scripting to make applications and reports more efficient. Establish and/or update a standardized portfolio of accountability and compliance reports. Develop solutions to complex application and reporting requirements as related to Financial Aid department requirements. Ensure managers and other personnel are sufficiently trained to execute standard reports and/or initiate simple ad hoc reporting. * Analysis - Review and analyze the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems and develop strategies for improving or further leveraging these systems. Identify and establish scope and parameters of systems analysis in order to define outcome criteria and measure-taking actions. * Other - Duties as assigned that support the overall mission of the Department and University. Position Requirements * College diploma or university degree in the field of business administration, computer science, accounting, or management information systems preferred. * 3 years related work experience in technology and/or higher education Financial Aid operations. * Working knowledge and experience with College Board PowerFAIDs preferred. * Comprehension of a Student Information System or related large information system preferred. * Financial aid background, preferred. * Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Outlook. * Some Proficiency with Query Tools, like MYSQL, Cognos 8/10, PHP scripting, Crystal reports etc. * Trouble shooting abilities and solution offering to complex reports and programs. * Highly self-motivated and directed. * Keen attention to detail. * Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities. * Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment. * Strong customer service orientation. * Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
