Accountant 1 - Staff Accountant

IMCD US currently has an opening for an Accountant 1 - Staff Accountant. This role is based in our Corporate Headquarters in Westlake, Ohio.

The Staff Account I is responsible for month-end closing processes, account reconciliations, financial statement analysis, reporting to management, and various process improvement projects.

Successful candidates will be responsible to:

Prepare month-end close journal entries by compiling and analyzing account information.

Reconcile balance sheet accounts and investigate differences between supporting documents and GL.

Compile financials and provide comments for material accounts for management review.

Prepare various sales and expense reports for internal management.

Maintain accounting controls by preparing and recommending policies and procedures.

Ensure that internal controls are in place and maintained by management in various departments.

Draft process narratives and memos for various accounts and projects.

Answer accounting procedure questions by researching and interpreting accounting policy and regulations.

Comply with sales tax legal requirements, prepare sales tax analysis, and file sales tax returns with states. Collect sales tax Exemption Certificates from customers if any.

Reconcile ERP general ledger accounts with BI sales reports.

Involved in inventory adjustments, pricing adjustments, and commissions.

Provide external auditors with supporting documents related to internal control and substantive audit procedures.

Prepare special financial reports such as financial ratios and income statement accounts flux analysis by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends.

Enter commissions and perform intercompany reconciliations and involved in inventory/ adjustments/pricing adjustments/commissions.

Ability to work in a team environment.

Maintain technical and professional knowledge by reviewing up to date accounting regulations and procedures.

Possess the ability to interact with colleagues in a professional and friendly manner.

Detailed-oriented and conscientious, with a process-improvement mindset.

Must possess good organizational skills and the desire to learn.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting.

Desired Qualifications:

  • CMA/CPA or desire to obtain.

  • Experience in a fast-paced environment.

  • Experience with ERP and Business Intelligence systems.

Supervisory Responsibility:

This position has no supervisory responsibility.

Work Environment:

This job currently operates on a hybrid schedule rotating between in-office and remote work environments. This role routinely uses standard office equipment.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position, and the hours of work and days are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., unless otherwise directed. Additional hours may be required as needed.

Travel:

No travel is expected for this position.
