The Accountant is a member of the Global Consolidations Team reporting to the Accounting Manager I, Global Consolidations. This position is responsible for the preparation and support of various accounting, reporting, and analysis duties related to the international consolidation process, with focus on the Latin America and Asia Pacific Regions (AP-LA). The responsibilities for this role include assuring financial results and statistical data are accurately and timely reported and consolidated. This includes reviewing, promoting and understanding the financial results, responding to inquiries on a timely basis and assuring the company complies with generally accepted accounting principles, corporate policies and other mandated accounting regulations.

What You Will Do:

  • Review, monitor and validate monthly and quarterly financial statements submitted by AP-LA international subsidiaries.

  • Review, submission, analysis and validation of monthly, quarterly and statistical data submitted by AP-LA and other international subsidiaries.

  • Pro-actively research and correspond with countries on submission issues/questions, support AP-LA Regions on accounting and reporting questions.

  • Perform accounting activities and analysis of Intercompany accounts, extra-ordinary items, and other accounting/consolidation tasks.

  • Maintain and improve processes, procedures and documentation.

  • Develop/maintain collaborative and effective partnerships with Country Controllers, local accounting staff and St. Paul Corporate Functions.

  • Support and cross train team members on department responsibilities.

  • Assist with various projects as necessary.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting

  • Minimum 2 years of accounting experience

  • Strong working knowledge of US GAAP

  • Proficient to Advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications, specifically Excel,

  • No immigration sponsorship available for this position

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CPA, CMA or MBA

  • Familiarity with consolidation accounting and systems a plus (Hyperion Financial Management HFM and FDM)

  • Experience with SAP, Oracle or other large-scale ERPs

  • International experience and language skills are valued

  • Result oriented, proactive, and possesses a high level of integrity

  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to liaison well across departments and functions

Performing tasks related to income tax accounting process including, but not limited to the preparation and review of US and non-US tax provisions, international and US income tax balance sheet accounts, quarterly tax rate calculations and assisting with the preparation of the quarterly/annual tax footnote and financial statement disclosures in SEC filings. This position will work closely with the Accounting, Treasury, and Corporate Planning & Analysis groups. What You Will Do: * Establish relationships with Local Country Controllers to minimize tax risks and rate volatility associated with tax provisions * Assist with the tax accounting requirements for non-US entities including tax training for internal contacts * Assist with responding to the external auditors at the quarter and yearend * Assist in review and reporting of inventory of deferred taxes * Preparing the tax footnote disclosure and rate reconciliation and management reporting * Prepares and develops reports and tax rate projections for management or other Corporate Departments * Calculate and prepare tax entries for FIN 48, discrete items and deferred accounts for accounting * Assist in the internal control process around financial reporting for taxes * Assist with collection and review of SOX documentation around corporate tax while coordinating with both internal and external auditors * Maintains current knowledge of corporate tax laws affecting the company * Assists in tax audits including data gathering and review * Participates in special tax projects as requested, including planning ideas related to income tax return positions * Responsible for proposing and implementing process improvements * Assist with rollover and maintaining Tax Provision Software and data gathering tools Minimum Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree in Accounting * Minimum 4 years of tax and/or accounting experience * Minimum 2 years of ASC740 experience * Immigration sponsorship is not available for this position Preferred Qualifications: * CPA Certification * Master's of Business Taxation or equivalent * Excellent accounting, tax accounting, mathematical, and analytical skills * Experience with Corptax Provision, SAP and Hyperion, SharePoint * Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Tax Research (RIA/BNA) * International tax experience * Plans and organizes non-routine tasks w/approval. Initiates or maintains work schedule. Establishes priorities of work assignments. * Responsible for meeting or exceeding all required deadlines. * Works under minimal supervision.
