We are looking for a talented Accountant to join our team specializing in Finance for our Corporate Segment in Nashville, TN

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Responsible for general accounting work required to maintain the department's general ledger. Performs financial analysis of the department's chart of accounts and financial statements by identifying and analyzing variances.

  • Analyzes, records and reports accounting transactions in a timely manner.

  • Prepares general ledger entries and account reconciliations.

  • Responds to inquiries received from management, internal and external auditors, Sarbanes-Oxley audit group and others regarding financial results, special reporting requests, etc.

  • Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential.


To be successful in this role you will need the following:

  • Financial Regulations Acumen
  • Evaluates applicable regulations for the financial area of focus, such as tax, banking, pension, local accounting to ensure underlying transactions are recorded in compliance with applicable regulations; explains key requirements and purpose of regulations and implications to the business to inform and educate relevant stakeholders.
  • Financial Internal Controls
  • Leverages internal control framework by assessing internal controls and developing remediation plans to mitigate financial reporting risks and respond to changing business needs.
  • Financial Analysis
  • Interprets financial data by analyzing trends, variances, opportunities and risks to provide insight to stakeholders regarding financial impact to drive business improvement; evaluates financial results against targets to communicate conclusions to all stakeholders; ensures integrity of financial data by investigating variances and determining corrective actions to resolve identified issues.

Compensation and Benefits

Base salary rate commensurate with experience. Duties include: performing various accounting functions for clients with a bill pay contract through Family Office Services. Position will assist lead Accountant and also be responsible for performing other duties as assigned by the department manager. JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: 65% - The Family Office Services Accountant is responsible for handling all day-to-day bookkeeping. Areas of focus include: QuickBooks entry, sync with QuickBooks, and monthly reconciliation for clients; New client set-up in QuickBooks as needed; Filing annual 1099's and W-2's; collecting W-4's, I-9, W-9's; filing and processing quarterly 941 reports and payments; troubleshoot issues and questions with client bookkeeping; Communicate with Clients' CPAs on a regular basis regarding cash flow, income, estimated tax payments, etc. Accuracy will be extremely important. 30% - The FOS Accountant prepares financial statements and reports requested by clients, their CPAs, and their Family Office Services Advisor (financial planner), including but not limited to: Balance Sheets, P&L Statements, Detail Reports for Income and Expense Categories, and Tax Basis for Asset Holdings. 5% - The FOS Accountant will also support the department with other initiatives as determined by the Manager. Duties may include assignment of special projects or any other accounting functions assigned, scanning, preparing spreadsheets, disseminating material and phone coverage. * Accounting degree or related college experience required * Proficient understanding of accounting required * Above average computer skills are required * Excellent verbal communications * High level of accuracy and quality * Ability to work with little or no supervision and work as a team member * Proficiency with PC based special applications, knowledge of QuickBooks and/or a plus * Work under pressure and deadlines * Strong organizational skills First Horizon Corp.
