1. Process Journal entries
2. Prepare account reconciliations
3. Variance analyses of assigned areas

Top 3-5 Required Skills:

1. Working GAAP knowledge
2. Microsoft Office proficient (strong excel)
3. 3-5 years accounting related experience should not have more than 7 years of experience

Desired Skills:

1. CPA candidate
2. Public Accounting experience

We are currently looking for an Accountant to be based on-site with an education client in Oakland, CA. In this client facing role, you will assist the Accounting Manager with accounting activities as they pertain to the construction of their campuses. Come join our team! Responsibilities * Assist with preparation of financial statements, analysis and monthly supplemental schedule preparation. * Prepare monthly journal entries. * Prepare bank and general ledger account reconciliations. * Assist with preparation of audit schedules and plays an integral part in annual financial audit. * Maintain equipment and real estate lease schedules and ensure appropriate accounting for capital leases and discounted rents. * Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules. * Prepare annual property tax statements for several counties across the country. * Prepare excise tax, Sales tax, and business tax returns as needed. * Light AP entry and back-up for AP Specialist. * Reconcile benefit invoices to general ledger. * Perform other duties that are reasonably associated with the above essential functions and additional duties assigned by supervisor. Qualifications * BS in Accounting, Finance, or Business is required. * 3+ years of experience in Accounting. * UNIX financial system knowledge required. * Public works and/or bond funded program experience preferred. * Ability to sort, check, count, and verify numbers. * Flexibility to adapt to all situations and work varied hours; possibly work weekends or evenings. * Ability to perform at high levels in a fast paced, ever-changing work environment. * Ability to anticipate work needs and follow through with minimum direction. * Apply knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in the relevant industry. * Rely on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. * Work under executive supervision.
