Description

POSITION: Accountant

DEPARTMENT: Finance (Gillis)

Salary: $63,000 - $70,000 (Annually)

(Starting salary depends on education and experience)

PURPOSE:The Accountant is responsible for the financial reporting of an agency or agencies in the

Cornerstones of Care system. The five agencies have a combined $45M in revenue and $40M in total

assets. Accurate and timely financial reporting is necessary for management to make timely and

prudent financial decisions to enhance financial stability and promote the mission of the organization.

Responsibilities:

• Prepares monthly and annual financial statements including Statement of Income, Balance Sheet, Quarterly Cash Flows, Aged Accounts Receivable with Days in A/R analysis, and Cost Center detail and analysis.

• Responsible for overall account analysis and detailed reconciliation of Balance Sheet accounts including unrestricted and restricted cash accounts to ensure accurate and timely reporting to external auditors that financial statements are in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles.

• Assists in coordination of the annual budget process with senior agency management and CBO Controller and Chief Business Officer.

• Reports and provides analysis of activity related to contributions and grants to ensure funds which are designated as temporary restricted have valid documentation for released from restriction in order to enhance operating cash for agency operations.

• Provides ad-hoc reporting and analysis of activity based on reviews of income statement activity that resulting in unusual variances (favorable and unfavorable) to provide assurance that financial statements are stated in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.

Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree Required plus 3-5 years experience. Extensive experience may be substituted for degree.

This accountant position will also need to be support grant management. Below is the required knowledge for the Grant Accountant position

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE

• Knowledge of SEFA (Schedule of Expenditures of Federal Awards)

• Knowledge of Federal grant requirements (Uniform Guidance)

• Knowledge of grant-specific requirements

• Current and ongoing knowledge of funding agency (federal, state, local, etc.) regulations and requirements, including those related to cost allocation

• Ability to participate in complex account review, tracking and analysis

• Working knowledge of common pitfalls associated with grant compliance

• Knowledge of resources available to assist organizations with grant compliance
