This position assists the Controller in the management of accounting, budgeting and business functions of the university, including the day-to-day operations of the Accounting and Finance Office (AFO), working closely with departments and staff.
BA/BS in Business Administration, Finance or Accounting.
Minimum of 2-4 years experience in Accounting and Financial Systems.
Knowledge of Higher Education accounting principles and Fund Accounting software. Banner/Ellucian software knowledge extremely helpful.
Highly proficient and expert user of software applications including Microsoft applications, databases, spreadsheets and word processing required.
Understanding of GAAP financial statement reporting.
Ability to foster a cooperative and positive work environment.
Ability to communicate professionally with a diverse constituency.
Detail oriented, with the ability to multi-task projects.
Analytical skills and problem solving capacities.
Non-profit accounting experience preferred.
Preferred LCMS background.
Manages daily accounting operations, ensuring internal controls and policies in the finance office are followed to prevent inaccuracies in reporting.
Produces the monthly financial statements respecting deadlines established by management and ensuring statements comply with GAAP.
Provides guidance on difficult, unique or complex issues and helps resolve complaints or disputes.
Completes timely and accurate reconciliations on a routine basis for a) GL accounts, bank statements, source system interfaces; b) monitor and reconcile monthly activity of endowments through Fundriver; c) endowment reconciliation between Banner and Fundriver.
Coordinates work paper preparation for annual financial audit.
Manages the institution's annual budget process. Once budgets are in place, provides timely reports to budget owners and cabinet officers on a monthly basis.
Manages the Greater Giving online payment site for all events on campus.
Supports preparation of the 990 reports.
Stays current with compliance and tax reporting issues to support situations that require resolution or may be identified as potential issues.
Special projects as assigned by the Controller and Vice President/CFO/COO.
