This position is responsible for water project accounting, processing invoices for water projects, Fixed Assets, preparing journal entries, and working with leases as related to capital assets and subscription-based leases.Monitor and update changes to fixed asset files.

Maintaining and updating Vendor Files

Assist with the monthly and annual closing processes.

Project accounting for Water.

Processing all invoices for Water Fund Projects.

Assist Controller with Budgeting and Forecasting for Water Fund.

Updating plant flow and water/sewer cost information monthly.

Provide information required by external auditors for the review of financial data and for the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report.

Respond to financial inquiries from user departments and help resolve problems they may have in understanding reports, etc.

Prepare journal entries and review, edit, and update entries from other departments.

Daily, Monthly, and Quarterly journal entries as needed and assigned.

Monitor and update changes to the budget.

Know the fundamentals of governmental accounting.

Be willing to serve as a team member in an office setting.

Must possess advanced accounting and bookkeeping skills.

Be proficient in operating standard office equipment such as a computer, fax machine, calculator, phone, copier, scanner, etc.

Education and Experience: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting required plus and at least one (1) year experience in an accounting office performing similar job duties. Designation as a Certified Governmental Finance Officer or as a CPA is desirable.

The City of Tyler will accept two years of relevant experience in place of each year of college required in the job description. Four years of relevant experience will be considered in place of an Associate's Degree, and eight years of relevant experience will be considered in place of a Bachelor's Degree. Any experience required in the Minimum qualifications is in addition to years of experience substituted for a degree.

No person under eighteen (18) years of age will be employed in any position requiring the operation of a City motorized vehicle.
