Job Objective: To reconcile, balance, and maintain accounts in accordance with City of Sherwood ordinances, policies, and procedures, and under the financial reporting provisions of Ark. Code Ann. § 10-4-412.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs monthly reconciliation of receivables, liabilities, and related revenue and expense accounts.
Reviews and maintains general and subsidiary ledgers; performs account analysis and prepares assigned reconciliations and adjusts journal entries monthly.
Performs monthly reconciliation of cash and bank statements for all city accounts.
Prepares year-end schedules and reconciliations in support of the annual audit.
Prepares monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual reports; researches and prepares special reports.
Assists other city departments in solving accounting or budget problems.
Assists the Finance Director with special projects and creation of related reports as required.
Assists with tracking grant funds received and expended.
Assists with the procurement process, including coordinating bid announcements and openings.
May act as backup to the payroll administrator.
Perform other duties as assigned and/or required.

SOFTWARE SKILLS REQUIRED
Intermediate: Accounting, Payroll Systems; Basic: 10-Key, Alphanumeric Data Entry, Human Resources Systems, Spreadsheet, Word Processing/Typing
Additional Skills
Requires a working knowledge of general accounting theory, principles, and practices.
Requires knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations governing the expenditure of funds.
The position requires the incumbent to be able to effectively solve complex technical problems using analytical thinking and applying logical skills.
This person must be organized and have a high level of attention to detail.
Ability to maintain accurate records, type and enter data accurately.
Ability to effectively communicate on a one-on-one basis with others.
Ability to maintain effective and harmonious working relationships with other employees, department officials and the public.
Ability to report to work each scheduled day, and on time.
Qualifications
Completion of a bachelor's degree in accounting/finance area, or 10-years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to maintain accurate records, type and enter data accurately. Ability to effectively communicate on a one-on-one basis with others. Ability to maintain effective and harmonious working relationships with other employees, department officials and the public. Ability to report to work each scheduled day, and on time.
